Gov. Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas, a Republican, vetoed an anti-transgender bill.

Gov. Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas vetoed a bill on Monday that would make it illegal for transgender minors to receive gender-affirming medication or surgery — a rare Republican rejection of the growing conservative effort to restrict transgender people’s health care and participation in society.

The Arkansas State Legislature could override Mr. Hutchinson’s veto of the bill, known as H.B. 1570. Republicans hold large majorities in both chambers and passed the bill last month with mostly party-line votes: 70-22 in the House and 28-7 in the Senate.

“I was told this week that the nation is looking at Arkansas because I have on my desk another bill passed by the General Assembly that is a product of the cultural war in America,” Mr. Hutchinson said in announcing his veto. “I don’t shy away from the battle when it is necessary and defensible, but the most recent action of the General Assembly, while well intended, is off course.”

Chase Strangio, a lawyer at the American Civil Liberties Union who has fought anti-trans legislation in Arkansas and other states, said that while he and other advocates needed to be “tentative in our celebration” because of the possibility of an override, Mr. Hutchinson’s veto was significant both practically and symbolically.

“First and foremost, it’s such an important rebuke of this sweeping range of legislation targeting trans youth across the country,” Mr. Strangio said. Referring to two states that are considering similar bills, he added: “I hope Alabama’s watching. I hope Tennessee’s watching.”

The left is working to ram through a massive world changing agenda with a 50/50 Senate and our side operates with a thumb up their ass unable to pass basic common sense legislation when they have clear majorities. Unreal.

Preventing minors from irreversible genital mutilation was too far for this guy?

Weak.

YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFUL

The Democrats used this tactic to get Gay Marriage.

It works like this:

1) You want something that voters would NEVER approve...so

2) You craft a law AGAINST it.

3) But you word it so poorly it does not withstand court challenge.

4) Then you ‘repeal’ this new law, and say the opposite must be true... A position, which is the opposite of the law just overturned in court- which is what you really wanted all along.

I call it ‘repeal to a third position’ and it is how they got gay marriage.

There are “doctors” and there are “abortionists.” The guys carving up the kids are abortionists.

I am confused. I thought from an earlier story a week or so ago that Asa Hutchinson had signed the bill.

I guess that news story was in error and Hutchinson returned to his RINO mindset.

I don’t think so. Nothing short of a Constitutional Amendment would have stopped Anthony Kennedy and the four radical left justices from striking down every traditional state marriage law and amendment and imposing in their place the national recognition of gay marriage.

“How sad that he sees this type of legislation as “targeting trans youth” instead of protecting young victims of perversion.”

Same story with the new Utah governor.

“The conservative effort is not to restrict healthcare or participation in society. It is to protect children from mutilation and outlandish medical procedures.”

The short, one word term for these “procedures,” Mengelization, works best.

Maybe sex change will go out of fashion when it becomes too common.
Once enough people discover that:
A: it did not solve any of their problems.
B: modified genitals are not as sensitive as the original.
C: most people prefer unmodified partners (gay or straight).
D: the potential dating pool is suddenly much smaller and less desirable.
E: they're not special anymore.
F: they've been had, led astray by an unhealthy fad and unscrupulous people.
... Maybe it will stop.

That’s exactly what I just said.

Did you read it? It used to be when a law was repealed it meant you will go back to the previous way.

Now, apparently, the word ‘repeal’ means do the opposite.

So now we have gay marriage ‘law’ that never came through the legislature, and nobody ever voted for... by putting forth a law AGAINST it. Wording it so poorly that it would have to be declared unconstitutional.

“No doubt Hutchinson cares more about $$$ from the elite”

If you haven’t read the entire bill and heard in detail why he vetoed it you have no business making that knee-jerk claim..

I expect the left to start demanding female circumcision soon. They’ll say it’s a cherished minority and superior way of doing things.

Seriously, they’re already at this stage with this and getting real close with pedo-tolerance.
