They sure did
For many of us passive sports enthusiasts when they started kneeling back in 2013 that was the end
“If not for the cellphone footage released by the detainees, we’d never have known how serious it was.”
Well, it is Baltimore. Basically, the cities in the US have this quiet deal going on between the media and the local government. The cities lets the simbas loose, and they US media does not report on it (in fact the British media reports on it more than the US media). And the people in suburbs (other than people like us who have sources outside of US media) have NO CLUE just how dangerous it is to venture into ‘the city’, even if just to see a baseball game. It’s a roll of the dice now.
As I see it, the people in the suburbs DO know it is dangerous - they are often the children and grandchildren of the whites chased out decades ago. It is TOURISTS who are unaware of the danger, and they pay a price.
Generally, if you ask locals, they will tell you the bay area around Baltimore (where tourists go) is fairly protected by the police. Camden Yards is right there by the bay. Rest of the city should be avoided (kinda like New Orleans, Chicago, and Birmingham).
I’d agree with you except that I have (liberal) relatives outside of another ‘city’, similar to Baltimore, and they talk of going to games (and do go to games) as if there’s no personal danger involved. No doubt they ‘hear’ about the crime in ‘the city’, but since the media barely reports on it (only deaths and near-deaths), they figure it’s safe enough for them...at least as I see it.
But yes, for tourists, I really feel bad for them - they see the slick, white-washed, web sites and get all excited to go there...
“Generally, if you ask locals, they will tell you the bay area around Baltimore (where tourists go) is fairly protected by the police.”
That’s my point, they ‘think’ it’s safe (due to the lack of reporting on crime). Perhaps it’s ‘safer’ relative to nearby areas, but that’s about the best it is.

Some cities do protect those patrons, knowing their money is critical. When Newark NJ opened its performing arts center (for wealthy libs west of the city), you could practically walk to the venue from the interstate by walking on top of the cops lining the way - they needed those wealthy people to come and spend money, and weren’t going to allow them to get Mau Maued in the process.
“All-Star Games” are circuses for morons. They always have been.
I think it is much more than HALF of their customers.
I have been to a lot of Red Sox games in the last 35 years.
The majority of the people in the seats are affluent white people. This is not the NFL or NBA where most of the players are black and a big percentage of the fans are Blacks.
The majority of the players(who did not vote for this)are hispanic and white. Blacks only make up 14% of MLB players.
The real issue is that 72% percent of people in a recent poll were in favor of showing an ID to vote. Even the majority of Democrats believe you should have to show an ID to vote.
Suppressing the “voter rights” of beer drinking toddlers at baseball games is downright HATEFUL.
Agree and as far as I’m concerned, Rudy (then Bloomberg) PROVED that even cities filled with simbas can be made safe...if local government prioritizes it. So obviously small areas can be made safe, if necessary for ‘revenue generation’. In the case of Baltimore, it’s tougher, because the stadium is doesn’t even have parking to speak of, with the thought being that people would fan out with their parking and help out local businesses. Obviously that is tougher to secure.
I have more respect for the flag kneelers than what MLB has done. At least they were expressing their 1st Amendment right, no matter how much I disagree with them.
Even General Sherman wouldn’t recognize Georgia these days.
That was what they attempted in Newark; as I understand it, they’d use empty corporate lots for night events, and you’d stand on a corner blocks from the arena waiting for a shuttle. Very dangerous, and it didn’t work; they don’t attract people to events there.
Hey fans, it looks like you can just get in line at the stadium for the All-Star game in Milwaukee in July,
....... don’t have to prove anything because that would be racist.
See you there!
If you have tickets for the All-Star game in Milwaukee, I would suggest you get to the stadium very very very early to get ahead of the 350,000 of us that will be going due to the new standard that no documentation should be required because it would be racist.
Man, I like that idea!!!!!
I will try to repeat this as association with Dems and Socialists is brought up.

Chapter 1: Mishna 7
By Rabbi Shaya Karlinsky
....
.... we are warned against attaching ourselves to a wicked person....
Even if you didn’t initiate a relationship with a bad neighbor but he approached you, you are told to actively distance yourself from evil neighbors who want to get close to you. But to acquire friends requires proactivity on your part, and it is sufficient that you do not seek out relationships with evil people in order to be distanced from wicked friends.
(In other words, rather than instructing us to distance ourselves from evil friends, we are told to refrain from attaching ourselves to them to begin with. The precision in the language should be noted: Neighbors can “happen to us” without any action on our part, so, when necessary, we must create the distance. Friends require active cultivation. It should not be necessary to actively distance oneself from evil friends – refraining from an attachment is enough.
The GA legislature should be immediately voting for legislation that will forbid Georgia-based airlines and baseball teams from requesting ID from ANY customer for ANY reason.
