Breaking Down and Breaking Up?
American Thinker.com ^ | April 1, 2021 | J. Robert Smith

The other day, Liz Peek, writing at Fox News online, said this about the 46th president:

Joe Biden woke up on third base and thinks he hit a triple.

Someone has told the president that he was elected by the American people to fundamentally change our country. He thinks he has a mandate, and that all that stands between him and success is a few ornery Republicans in the Senate who refuse to get out of the way.

Correction. Biden believes that the only thing standing between him and greatness are cranky senators who do not see the United States as systemically racist, who don’t believe in vastly expanding the welfare state, who think that individual creativity and achievement have built our great country and who are absolutely positive that Democrats are leading us down a very dangerous path.

A very dangerous path. Because what the Biden White House and congressional Democrats are serving is a smorgasbord of destructive measures, from executive orders to federal policy changes to legislative initiatives. Destructive to our economy and society -- to our liberties, in fact -- which makes their assault, well, total.

Biden’s handlers, because Biden is barely coherent, face only token resistance from Republicans.

Democrats and the media are all in to destroy this country, and the average American can’t be bothered to take notice.

What is that old adage/idiom: Give a Man enough rope and he will hang himself?

Better yet, give a political party (i.e.: the Leftist DEMs) enough rope and they will eventually hang themselves.

this will only strengthen the need for stronger state governments... the democrats will transform america, but it will be back to a decentralized form of representation.

hopefully.

Biden is the crisis conservatives can’t let go to waste. If it passes and we still have a majority of rinos and lefties in power. We as a nation, with a beautiful bill of rights , are doomed to another civil war, that will not have battlelines but instead will be more like Afghanistan. You’ll never know who or where the enemY is coming from. It will be a war of attrition. Thank God most brown and yellow migrant people ACTUALLY want the freedoms our country pretends to give these days.

They shoved Biden down this country’s throat. We are stuck with him and pretending he is mentally sound.

They will when their amusements, freedom of movement, and their comforts of life are taken away. Its been an easy ride and they think it will never end. But it will.

The Democrats will implement full on socialism right THIS TIME. They will succeed where every other attempt has failed. /sarc

That is correct. They lived under repressive regimes and failed systems. They know full well what socialism is all about. Most Americans are ignorant and haven’t a clue how it will effect them, their futures and their families.

We are about to experience some very difficult times. Whenever incompetent, reckless and stupid people get put in charge of anything the results are predictable.

Naw, the public is stupid to a degree I never thought possible. As long as they keep scaring them, virus variants, new virii, toxic tomatoes, poison dust mites, whatever. The American public is ripe for control. The only way you’d see significant unrest is if phones/streaming are impacted, or if home delivered food is disrupted. THAT would cause problems.

That is an interesting observation about the states and I believe you are right. States are going to say “We’re sorry, that doesn’t work for us.”

We will see efforts by some states to reassert their rights and control their own affairs in accordance with the wishes of its residents. But then you have to ask what an overbearing federal government that is hell bent of centralized control will do about it. How will it respond to states that refuse to go along with the national program? My view is that the fed power structure will attempt to punish those state in every way possible.

Independence and freedom are not hallmarks of socialism. Power and control are.

One thing that is a little hard for me to grasp is why the younger generations who stand to lose so much haven’t started to figure out yet. I get it that they they are naive, brainwashed and easily misled but you would think that maybe a few of them would ponder the mountain of debt heaped upon them by reckless government spending and the growth of this monstrous and overbearing federal government. To think that has no consequences is beyond naive.

Its also curious that they ignore that other countries are gaining on us and will present serious competition (in all realms) in the future and it is they who will be feeling the pressures of the storm bearing down on them.

In other words, they are going to be left holding the bag. You would think that someone in their ranks would be asking questions and demanding answers from our governing cabal.

I guess they think life for them will always be the way it was. Never a good strategy.

“I guess they think life for them will always be the way it was. Never a good strategy.”

They are leftists and as such have a serious case of cognitive dissonance. For example, most of them believe politicians are bad people by nature. They believe government is incompetent. But, they want more government to fix their problems for them.

They believe America will always be the most powerful, best nation on earth, while they also believe that America is an evil, racist, intolerant mess.

They have no clue about economics. I saw a recent commercial for “credit karma” where the young woman was sitting on her couch, did something to boost her credit score and magically, everything around her was upscaled. The message: If you can borrow better, your life is better, debt is ok.

I don’t have much hope for this country. I’m just along for the ride.

Another example of cognitive dissonance by the Left is they think corporations are filled with greedy, irresponsible and corrupt people. At the same time they think government is staffed with entirely altruistic, selfless public servants who are incapable of being greedy, irresponsible and corrupt.

Talk about being naive.

correct. and withholding federal dollars is the number one penalty to states, but how does that work, when the states start withholding the monies to begin with...

very interesting times.

Yes, its going to be “game on” between some states and the federal government. The problem for the feds is that when they penalize one state they show their hand to other states. The federal bullying tactics become well known and can therefore be countered.

We are going to soon see regional resistance popping up.

Here’s an example of how things might start to play out:

Yes, interesting times ahead.
