Fighting Escalates in Eastern Ukraine, Signaling the End to Another Cease-Fire

MOSCOW — The war in eastern Ukraine, which has been on a low simmer for months, drawing little international attention, has escalated sharply in recent days, according to statements on Tuesday from the Ukrainian and Russian governments.

In the deadliest engagement so far this year, four Ukrainian soldiers were killed and another seriously wounded in a battle against Russian-backed separatists in the Donetsk Region of eastern Ukraine, the country’s military said.

The soldiers’ deaths, along with a buildup of Russian forces on the border, has seized the attention of senior American officials in Europe and Washington. In the past week, the U.S. military’s European Command raised its watch level from possible crisis to potential imminent crisis — the highest level — in response to the deployment of the additional Russian troops.

Gee, in the olden days we had only Defcon levels.

Those have not changed...Defcon 4 since 911.

“possible imminent crisis” lol

Perfect for the Democrats and neocons who desperately want another war. It gives them more opportunity to take away our rights, to spend more money, and to dampen criticism of the regime. It’s, you know, un-patriotic to criticize the government in time of war. It also gives them more opportunities to send young men and woman to die, because so many in the military are not woke leftists. Best for the regime to sacrifice them.

With no one in the West competent to oppose them Russia may make the mistake of advancing now.
But I think they’re just making a show of force.
Could be wrong.

With Joe Cameltoe in office, expect an imminent crisis at any moment. We almost had one when he fell up the stairs of AF-1.

We all know ukraine is corrupt. Not worth getting in a snit over? U tell me. I say no. Poland on the other hand is doing quite well. They’ve never really been free but they’re smart enough to be aware of the big bear.

“I wonder why this is happening now?”

More US aid to Ukraine means more to siphon from.

I think what got them going was the recent delivery of military supplies. Putin isn’t going to give Biden an opportunity to arm Ukraine, IMO.

Biden is serious this time - he’s ready to fight to the last Ukrainian.

New Junta imposed by the Deep State was definitely going to re-start the war in Ukraine.

Ah!
“Maneuvers” would be a good way to hid the resupply.

I think Russia is just giving support to professionals in the West’s military who say: “What? A war on Russia’s doorstep? Are you crazy Mr President?”
Those people probably gave the same advice to SOS Hillary and Obama- but she was the “world’s smartest woman” so we have the mess we do now.

You can safely bet Soros is pulling strings too. Not sure how he benefits, but he’s always somehow involved when Ukraine is in the news.

When you win a coup, you do not inherit everything the government you killed possessed. You only get to have what you can take by force, that’s how a coup works. The basic problem is that people in Crimea and the eastern strip have as much right to grab power their zone just as the Maidan attackers did to grab what they wanted.

The plan to take Sevastopol as a NATO navy base was always pretty insane. And it’s also nutty to think that expanding NATO right up to the Russian border 70 miles from Kursk wouldn’t provoke a reaction.

And we have some lunatic generals who truly believe they can have a conventional war with Russia, right on the eastern front battlefields of WWII, and that Russia will accept a conventional defeat and not nuke us. The nuts running things now have no idea of the old rules of the cold war.
