If the cheat is proven, it may prevent it from happening again shortly, and certainly color the next elections as revenge elections. Most likely, cheating has been going on for a very long time, which explains so many poorly functioning candidates attain elected office.

I have vivid memories of being in a fine dining establishment with high-back walls surrounding three sides of each booth. The fellow in the next booth was explaining (bragging) to his friends about how he had downloaded the blank IRS forms for the prior three years and filled them in with bogus data. Then, he had run the paper through a copy machine a couple of times. Bingo.... material ready to supply the simple-minded banker.

You have no idea what the counterfeiting laws force US machinery manufacturers to do that will reveal facts of legitimacy or illegitimacy. And if the machine is foreign made, that will be detected too.
