Possibilities:

• Former DOJ official McGee is lying his ass off and the FBI tapes will prove it.
• McGee is not lying and someone was impersonating McGee. FBI tapes would prove that too.
• FBI is in on it and denies having tapes. Gaetz partially screwed, but no evidence of affair with 17 year old. No travel records as Gaetz claims.
• Gaetz is lying and travel records will prove it.
• Gaetz's dad was involved. That's 2 people backing Gaetz's story. Should be phone records of the FBI communications and possibly the extortion demands.

That’s a good layout of possible scenarios.

My first thought is, any ex-DOJ official who is trying to shake-down a U.S. Congressman is going to be smart enough not to have explicit demands recorded or a part of a paper trail.

In fact, I tend to lean toward the side of this story where this is all intentional, well timed, and meant to attack Gaetz for things he may be involved in.

Why?

Don’t forget the model that was best excemplified by FusionGPS. It was a group of media/press people and lawyers formed for the purpose of attacking people on political grounds. With the way that everything seems to be getting politically weaponized these days, I would not be suprised at all if this ex-DOJ ‘official’ is apart of a larger conspiracy to attack Gaetz.

Then again, maybe he can’t resist those 17 year olds.

The 17 year old is no longer 17 and decides to go public with accusations against Gaetz.

• Gaetz is innocent but the Pelosi machine will steamroll him out of office to in a raw display of power to embarrass Republicans. His district (FL-1) will easily put another Republican in the House, but this will be a person with no allegiance to President Trump.
