The man who beat an Asian woman to the ground then kicked her in the head in a brutal, caught-on-camera hate attack in Midtown earlier this week was arrested by police early Wednesday morning, cops said.
Brandon Elliot, 38, was arrested at about 2 a.m. Wednesday and hit with a number of charges, including assault as a hate crime and attempted assault as a hate crime, police said.
Elliot lives in a nearby hotel that serves as a homeless shelter, according to cops.
He allegedly beat a 65-year-old woman after hurling anti-Asian statements at her on West 43 Street near Ninth Avenue on Monday morning, cops said.
Several witnesses from a nearby residential building — including workers employed there — did nothing to stop the beating, video of the assault shows.
Staff members were suspended by the building management after the attack — and the lack of response — drew national outrage.
“The staff who witnessed the attack have been suspended pending an investigation in conjunction with their union,” a statement by building management said. “The Brodsky Organization is also working to identify a third-party delivery vendor present during the incident so that appropriate action can be taken.”
On Tuesday, the victim’s daughter’s boyfriend told The Post that her attacker “locked eyes” with her — then beat her so mercilessly that “she wasn’t there” after the first blow.

That’s what happens in gun free societies, people become afraid to help.
If they are going to bring race into it why not state the races of all involved?
“If they are going to bring race into it why not state the races of all involved?”

It’s a mystery I’ve been struggling to figure out. Maybe they just forgot? /sarc
The security guards seemed to be saying “She’s Asian, not Black like us, like the assaulter, so it doesn’t really concern us. She probably called him a name.”
OR
“I don’t want that Dude comin’ after me! I hope he didn’t see us looking. Okay. We are officially
‘Closed for Business! Nobody’s working here right now, so don’t come in, not even for help.”
Either circumstance is shameful and inhumane.
Seems to me Blacks will target whatever group the media is pushing....
No one is born with hate. It is taught, learned, impressed on many for all the false reasons the most wicked minds can contrive. First it was “beat up whitey” with encouragement and no consequences by our politicians, community agitators, media, Hollywood and the courts. Now, it is “beat up Asians” for the same reasons. Who next?
Because in this day and age American blacks aren't ever to blame for anything. Haven't you noticed?
They should also be arrested as accomplices.
Hispanics?
It’s kind of generally known that there’s no love lost between blacks and Hispanics, to put it mildly.
Whatever happened to the guy who “knocked out” that old white lady?
OMG!! he’s BLACK!! I am SHOCKED!
Probably running for Congress!

Naa, this has been going on forever. They look at Asians as weak and docile, but with money and typically without much in the way of self-defense. Easy prey. The difference now is that the Biden Administration had to get Asians distracted, while they dismantled Trump’s ban on anti-Asian quotas at universities. So they decided to finally report on ‘anti-Asian’ violence, while leaving it to their idiot viewers to think it was whites committing it.
Brave man.
Interesting article by the public defender.
The only problem is that it assumes all blacks are like that. No such thing. We need to distinguish between race and culture. The culture the author describes is real and pathetic — but when we lump all people of a skin color into that category we either make all or none of them as described.
America will never get over “race” until she can distinguish skin color from culture — or, as one man put it, the content of one’s character.
