TN governor signs transgender sports bill, will require students to prove their sex before playing

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee on Friday signed a bill into law that will prohibit transgender students from playing on the team of the sex with which they identify, one of numerous such bills currently working their way through statehouses around the country.

Tennessee’s H.B. 3 directs that "a student's gender for purposes of participation in a public middle school or high school interscholastic athletic activity or event must be determined by the student's sex at the time of the student's birth, as indicated on the student's original birth certificate."

The rule effectively bars transgender athletes from selecting a team based on their internal sense of "gender identity."

"I signed the bill to preserve women's athletics and ensure fair competition," Lee said in a tweet following the signing.

"This legislation responds to damaging federal policies that stand in opposition to the years of progress made under Title IX and I commend members of the General Assembly for their bipartisan work," he added.

This is a train wreck I want to see. Democrats will lose this every time. When gay marriage was decreed as a matter of equal protection by SCOTUS it shortcut a political legislative and legal process that same sex marriage advocates assumed would take a decade or more linger than it did. That meant they had organizational structures and campaign like operations with no place to go. Until someone thought “Sahazzam! I know! Let’s promote transgender rights!” Which hitherto was on the minds of no one. So, to advocate on the behalf of .08% of the population, proponents are willing to deeply offend 80% of the population. Bring this on!

The reason this is turning out to be complete fold job by Kristi Noem, is if SD was the only state to pass this type of law, the NCAA could bully SD and perhaps suspend their teams from post season play.....SD is a small state and no one outside of SD would miss them from NCAA action.

Remember the NC bathroom law, they were perhaps the only state to pass such a law and the NCAA punished them with taking post season events out of the state....

If SD joins all the other states in passing this law, perhaps joined by FL, TX, AL, etc....the NCAA would never take on that many states at one time....

In this situation, there is strength in numbers and SD should be part of it...

The Marxist Cultural Elite must be slamming the table with their fists. They certainly don’t like Federalism, anymore than they like Free Speech. I like them both just fine.

We will see what Judges, Deep Staters, CEO Oligarchs (but I repeats myself ) think about this law before I celebrate . They might be able to overturn the will of the people.

Every female athlete, regardless of political leanings, should embrace this wholeheartedly.

Even the Fake News media arguments, advertising nitwits, and Hollywood, should not be able to convince them otherwise.

How many states have Republican’s majorities across the board?

I think I read the other day that there were 23 but I’ve also heard that there are 30. Not sure and don’t feel like taking the time to do the research. But, I’m pretty confident that Republican’s outnumber the Dem’s, by a pretty fair margin, when it comes to majorities in the state legislatures.

Anywho....regardless of the number, if all those states convened a meeting and decided to act as one bloc to refuse anything and everything coming out of DC, the destruction of this country by those two and their puppet masters is halted. Of course, that would be based on the premise that the state Republican’s are actually against what is going on in DC.

It would be no different than those liberal Governors trying to get rid of the Electoral College when President Trump was in office.

Refugees....Nope, don’t want them. Send them to Cali, NY, NJ, Chicago, Washington, Portland, etc etc.

DHS dropping of busloads....Nope, they’ll be rounded up and dropped off at the nearest DHS office or college campus(ha ha ha)

Gonna raise taxes to pay for all of these new residents....Nope, we’ll instruct our folks to not take out the money and if you send the IRS anywhere, local sheriffs will be asked to escort them away or arrest them on sight.

Believe it or not, the federal government isn’t all that big, if you get down to it. It can damned sure be intimidating, when a few of them show up at your doorstep. But when they turn around and see your neighbors and the whole town coming down the street to help, that intimidation can wear off real quick.

Exactly 💯. If there were a strong coalition of states to fight this together, instead of individually, mora.kty would rule the day. But instead evil rules because the moral states aren’t orga ized to fight it.

The locker rooms are still open to anyone, regardless.

If you mean Klinefelter syndrome, there are so few cases annually that those could be dealt with on a case by case basis if needed.

Kristi Noem had her opportunity to be a hero, but she opted to be a coward.

Idaho, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Tennessee Governors showed they had a spine, while Noem showed she was in reality nothing but a GOP Establishment politician.

Really to bad about Noem, republicans bending over for the WOKE corporations, hard to believe that the Republican Party who has ALWAYS been about corporations and free markets are NOW being extorted by them the same way THEY are being extorted by the likes of BLM, CHINA, ANTIFA ect. Very few in this nation have the SPINE to fight for this great nation!! I am so very happy I don’t have kids and grand kids AND so very thankful most of my life was BEFORE all of this BS!! The nation was GREAT while it lasted our founders honestly thought they had cover all the bases but the corruption in government is just to deep to fix at this point!! I WISH they had foreseen just how important term limits would be!!
