Is Joe Biden Trying to Buy Joe Manchin's Loyalty? If Manchin Can Be Bought, Say Goodbye to the Filibuster
PJ Media ^ | 03/27/2021 | Matt Margolis

With a 50-50 split in the United States Senate, there are two things Joe Biden cannot afford: Democrat defections and a filibuster. Senate rules require 60 votes for cloture to move on legislation, and recent years have turned the filibuster into an obstruction tactic by the minority party.

Senator Joe Manchin, a moderate Democrat from the very red state of West Virginia, has found himself in a very powerful position. His support or opposition to key legislation could make or break Joe Biden’s agenda in Congress.

So, it’s hard not to raise an eyebrow at the fact that Joe Biden has nominated Gayle Conelly Manchin, Senator Joe Manchin’s wife, to co-chair the Appalachian Regional Commission, which is an economic development partnership with 13 states designed “to innovate, partner, and invest to build community capacity and strengthen economic growth in Appalachia.” The position requires Senate confirmation.

This nomination comes at a time when Manchin has publicly expressed opposition to extreme gun control, a $15 minimum wage, and eliminating the filibuster.

So, what exactly is Biden up to?

It is not unprecedented for the spouse of a member of Congress to serve in an executive branch position. For example, Senator Mitch McConnell’s wife Elaine Chao served as transportation secretary under President Trump and labor secretary under President George W. Bush.

But it’s hard to ignore the special circumstances surrounding Mrs. Manchin’s nomination that suggests, regardless of her qualifications, an ulterior motive by Joe Biden, or whoever it is making his decisions for him.

Continue yelling “Say Goodbye to the Filibuster” in headlines, and it will probably encourage the Democrats enough to make it happen. It would be more wise to speak of ending the filibuster as though attempting to end it would be intolerable to all reasoning Americans and politically self-destructive for Democrats to carry out (the truth).

The states are taking successful measures to prevent election fraud, and H.R. 1 won’t survive constitutional scrutiny. The real question is, “What can we Republicans do without the filibuster in our way?” We could actually lend some truly muscular help to our next president to entirely drain the swamp. Fire all of the Democrats. Let them pick cotton.

Olog-hai, are you a Lin Wood and QAnon fan, too? ;)

Campaign (lead), at least vote (follow), or get out of the way. I'm fed up with those telling us not to vote, too. The honest ones need to educated in civics and logic. The dishonest ones need to stay on their own Democrat forums and stop bothering conservatives.

This country is heading towards idiocracy, but I’ll stay and watch the fun from here. Think about how a person could rise to compete in such an ignorant population. If they continue to refuse to study political strategy and to be deluded by Democrats into believing that every conservative of average or better intelligence is plotting against them, they might make good slaves after losing some weight. There’s a place for everyone. ;)

Every democrat party politician can be bought. They all entered politics to get rich by being part of what is an official oligarchy in this country.

It was actually a stupid move by the Rats.

Now he can’t change his stance on upholding the filibuster, or he’ll be cursed through all history as a sellout whore, a Judas for sale cheap.

All these guys are regularly bought and otherwise controlled.

And it sure looks like that’s been Manchin’s game for years more even than the usual.

“Fleeing instead of standing and fighting?”

Who’s fighting? Where’s the ‘Tea Party’ this time? Where are the protests? Where is the rebellion? Where is the insurrection? Oh yea, we tried that and all we managed to do was hang a picture of a black guy in the Capitol Rotunda.

All I see a bunch of sheep on our side, waiting for their slaughter.

Explains it all, basing your brilliant ‘knowledge’ of Leftists on books over 60 years old.

No wonder our side was so easy to defeat!

Manchin has been bought and sold more times than a 1999 ranger pickup.

“At this point I’ll be happy if guns are outlawed, as MAYBE THEN conservatives will figure out...”

The recent Ninth Circuit decision that citizens DO NOT have the right to carry firearms should be all the “wake up call” that is needed. Unfortunately we have far too many “supporters” who are not really committed to 2A Rights but rather have a very expensive collecting hobby.
