It is mind-bending how things have flipped over time. In the 80s, the haters of Reagan were anti-war, anti-big business, pro-labor, and anti-globalization. Today’s lovers of Biden* are pro-war, pro-big business, anti-labor, and pro-globalization.
On one hand he got what he wanted. Attention and his name in the history books.
On the other what a stupid thing to do. But you can not determine the liberal/conservative or as I am coming to believe, realists and nihilist group breakdown by the questions he asked.
Which is why I said it was a false choice.

Nixon opened himself up for attack of course, but what was forgiven when Kennedy was in office became the method of attack for three years.
Thanks RACPE. Nixon’s downfall was not entirely because of outside forces or resentments. He was a paranoid weirdo, which is probably why he was one of the best of the Presidents, who extricated the US from Vietnam, and handled the 1973 October War so well while he was under fire for some unnecessary stupidity in the prior year.
