Colorado, the Rocky Mountain Shooting Gallery

Another mass shooting occurred this past week in Colorado, a state that had more than its share of similar shootings over the past few decades. 13 people were shot at Columbine High School in 1999.

The Denver Post found that Colorado has had more mass shootings per capita than all but four other states. Metro Denver leads the nation in school shootings per capita since 1999, more than any other large American metropolitan areas.

More recent events were the Aurora theater shooting in 2012, killing 12 and injuring 70 others, followed by a shooting at a Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood clinic leaving 3 dead and 9 injured. This week’s shooting hits closer to home as it occurred at a King Sooper grocery store.

Most people do not visit a high school, movie theater, or abortion clinic on a regular basis, but virtually everyone goes to the grocery store at least weekly.

The Boulder shooter is 21-year-old Ahmad al-Issa, a Syrian born college student, who arrived in the US via an Obama-era asylum program. His Facebook page included pro-Islam and anti-Trump messages and likes for Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. The shooter’s brother described him as “very anti-social and paranoid.”

A former wrestling teammate said he once threatened to kill people during a match, “He was kind of scary to be around.” He was already known to the FBI, “linked to another individual under investigation by the bureau” according to the New York Times.

Yet this happened under the FBI’s noses. Perhaps they were busy with other important cases. Like the 50 plus agents investigating Trump-Russia collusion, spying on the Trump campaign and administration. Or the dozen plus agents sent urgently to investigate a NASCAR garage door handle with a loop that someone thought might resemble a noose.

Colorado is beautiful country.......but I don’t want to visit there anymore

We were there 20 years ago....and I felt no concern or fear walking around Denver or Boulder
Boulder, even then, was the ‘Austin’ of Colorado.....liberal and as they say ...weird
We traveled up I70 every chance we could and stopped in little mountain towns on the way......
It was memorable

There are good people there......we easily found a wonderful church....
....but, like Austin, it is becoming more radicalized....

I know there are Freepers who live there.....and it IS beautiful country.

When enough oxygen-stealing liberals move into an area, the area turned into a crime-ridden cesspool.

My family moved to boulder in the 1870’s. I never really liked Boulder. Colorado was the first state to pass a law that marriage was between a man and a woman. The gay mafia has been in full attack since then turning the state form conservative to full bore liberal government. Colorado has been targeted by the deep state for a new state touring by liberal culture. With the push for gun control I expect more false flag acts against we the people.

Denver itself has decayed horribly over the past 20 years, just like every Democrat-run major metropolitan area.

But the entire state of Colorado suffers from a virus more deadly than Ebola.....migration of liberals from California, Washington and Oregon.

These people flee from the side effects of liberalism and bring it with them.

This shooting is 100% the fault of the Democratic Party.

1) Obama allowing unscreened muslims into our communities

2) Democrats turning muslims into “victims”

3) Democrats promoting anti-Semitism

Per Majorie Taylor Greene:

Colorado has everything the left has asked for:

Universal background checks.
Red flag gun seizure law.
“Hi capacity” magazine ban.
A passing gun-control grade from @GiffordsCourage.

And it still didn’t stop a thug like al-Issa from murdering Americans.

I don’t talk politics with the people I climb with in CO. I also spend my evenings with the locals in SW CO. I am from a small town in Oklahoma. My folks had a feed store there. The native Coloradans are good people.

"More recent events were the Aurora theater shooting in 2012, killing 12 and injuring 70 others,,,"

Just a few weeks after this Aurora shooting, there was another, nearly identical incident inside a theater in San Antonio, Texas. Most people have never heard about the Texas shooting. The reason is simple.

As soon as the perp fired the first shot, in Texas, an off duty sheriff's deputy pulled out her service revolver, and shot the perpetrator. That couldn't have happened in Colorado because of their draconian gun "safety" laws.

All the shooters have been liberals. Remember that.

We need liberal control not gun control.

There was some a$$#at here in North Texas a couple years ago that was going to go off in a church on a Sunday morning... Got off one shot and then got put down. There were 4 other handguns coming out in the congregation as the church security volunteer popped the crazy dude. Sadly, right before or right after that, there was a crazy SOB that shot up a church in South Texas.

You notice the shootings are done by crazy people from broken homes with Ritalin in their history, or people who share an affection for the god of arabs.

I’ve lived in and visited Colorado many times since first arriving in 1968. Like many Western states, they went from reliably conservative to purple (remember Ben “Crazy Horse” Campbell?”) to liberal (remember crying Patsy Shroeder?) to approving marijuana to becoming a prettier version of California.

They really can’t blame conservatism for mass shootings can they? Columbine was done by children who unknowingly saw the depressiveness of a godless society. The Aurora shooter was a loony who chose The Joker as a role model and the latest is a Muslim who went Jew-hunting. The Colorado I grew up with would not have tolerated any of these things but the California-esque Colorado wants only to blame guns and conservatives, not the real problems.

“That couldn’t have happened in Colorado because of their draconian gun “safety” laws.”
Granted we have some stupid laws here but what draconian laws are you speaking of?
It is not a crime to ignore a NO GUNS ALLOWED sign on a private business and theater. Most ccw folks here just ignore the signs and go about their business. I ccw as an election judge as long as my poling place was not in a school. Depending on the reason for the MD visit I ccw there. Used to put my holstered gun on table top for chiropractor visit. I keep a safe in the car for those times I will not carry, such as going into a K-12 school, through a metal detector, or federali buildings

Thanks for that answer to those who choose to paint with a broad brush rather than do a little research on a site like https://handgunlaw.us to get facts. In the bit of time I spent on that site, the main thing that perturbed me about CO law on CCW was allowing the sheriffs to set their own “fees” since they are the ones processing the permits. I could afford the $152.50 for a 5-year CCW permit in Boulder County but I think that price is totally out of line for the actual processing costs.

I don’t think Ahmad al-Issa was in college and I thing he came here as a toddler under W. This article seems off.

You don't know what you're talking about.
