Disney has given the green light to reboot the National Treasure movie franchise into a TV series that will star a Hispanic female DREAMer, who will explore “historical authorship and identity.”
National Treasure, starring Nicholas Cage, spawned two hit films in 2004 and 2007, and a third film has been long-gestating. But now Disney has taken the concept in a new direction with an upcoming series destined for its streaming service, Disney+, according to Deadline.
The new series will feature lead character Jess Morales — a 21-year-old immigrant, ostensibly part of President Barack Obama’s DREAMer program — who will lead a “diverse group of friends” to search out her family history.

Disney is for losers.

I read a fascinating post on FR that posited, it’s not get woke go broke, it’s going broke and then getting woke. If I recall, one of the companies mentioned was Disney. One of the companies explored in detail was Coke. The company is facing a dire threat. The downward trend in profits is slow and steady, and has been going on for at least a decade. You can clearly see, if they don’t do something soon, they will be, if not out of business, they will be just a fraction of their current size. Liberals have for so long attacked sugary drinks that it is having an effect. Fewer parents let their kids consume soft drinks. More liberal legislation, like Bloomberg’s large soda ban, are hitting them. What Coke and Disney are doing is saying to the Left, “Hey! We support you and your lunatic fringe ideology. See! Here’s some money and, oh, here’s our public support!!!! Please, please don’t hurt us.”
What’s next? Jao the penguin being carefully walked around on a tether by Li & Xi the pandas?

A lot of women love Disney. A lot of conservative men have wives who buy Disney. I belong to a club which had Disney items as prizes. They were unfortunately the most popular prize I’ve ever seen there. I traded my prize for an embroidered towel.
I can’t wait to not watch it.
Looking forward to the big squeeze between alienating 100m American patriots in America and inevitably pissing of Chinese consumers like Nike and H&M.

Press: Isn’t that a bit presumptuous and contradictory, especially considering that Walt Disney was a white man?
Disney: We are with the times and the young people are affected by Wokism so we take advantage of that. And we are virtuous as well.
Press: Well, that’s making money from the times but don’t you see that damage in it?
Disney: No.
Press: You are buying into division and are destroying the country. You are pitting certain victim group against the others rather than uniting them under nationality. You are destroying capitalism with Marxist class war because of quick profits. You are contributing to tribalism rather than uniting the country. And the bottom line is money over patriotism.

Press: Money is the real reason.

Press: Be honest.
Disney: No.
What a slap in the face to all the immigrants in this country who put their name on a list, waited their turn and came in through the front door.

I LOVE the first National Treasure movie, and sorta like the second, but this TV series reboot sounds like a total train wreck. Count me out.
