Over the opposition of the State Police Crime Lab and civil libertarians, Massachusetts district attorneys can create their own database of partial DNA profiles after getting a judge's approval as part of a secret grand jury investigation.
the only agency that should have DNA profiles should be the feds and the family-tree companies where accountability can be stringently enforced and the penalties for misuse severe. If state DA’s can’t wait for results back, they need to take a xanax. States are not nations and considering the history of corrupt DAs in America, they should not be trusted with such data.
