en. Joe Manchin said Wednesday that he favors a large infrastructure package that would be paid for in part by raising tax revenues — a point of contention between the two parties.
"I'm sure of one thing: It’s going to be enormous," the West Virginia Democrat, who is seen as a swing vote in a chamber divided 50-50, told reporters at the Capitol.
While he didn't predict a price tag, Manchin said Congress should do "everything we possibly can" to pay for it. He said there should be "tax adjustments" to former President Donald Trump’s 2017 tax law to boost revenues, including by raising the corporate rate from the current 21 percent to at least 25 percent.
The tax benefits in the Republican law were "weighted in one direction to the upper end," Manchin said. He also suggested an "infrastructure bank" paid for with revenues, potentially a value-added tax, that would be used for "rebuilding America."

Taxes? Why not just pull it out of their a$$ like with the “covid relief” package.
Why not fire up the printing presses?
Oh wait...they’re already doing that for the COVID relief bill, of which a generous 8-9% actually goes for COVID relief.
I can hear the brrrrrrr all the way in California.
...raising the corporate rate from the current 21 percent to at least 25 percent.

After a year of lockdowns which wiped out thousands of businesses, nothing helps restart an economy like raising taxes on the surviving businesses. (Do I really need a sarc tag?)
He learned a lot from Sheets!
We need a highway to Hoorenholler WV
Uh, it’s not ‘theirs’ they’re pulling it out of. JS. :0(
Manchin is the democrats Murkowski. Look at me attention whores saying I will, I won’t, I will, and then votes along party lines....
Except Murkowski plays it out and her RINO comes through and often votes with the democrats.
Manchin represents a state with more white people on welfare than any place on the planet outside Great Britain. If it weren’t for massive Federal spending, West Virginia would be a national park with a few NCAA Division I sports teams playing in it.
Ah yes.. the “moderate.”
They pay people not to work.
This is artificially driving up the cost of labor and causing shortages. This drives up the cost of production and the cost of goods.
Their spending is “anti-stimulus.”
They are raiding the Treasury for personal gain.
At the same time, they want to raise taxes so they can plunder even more.
What about unpaid rent and mortgage payments. How are they going to fix?
Step One: Give all the stupid people "enormous" amounts of free money.
Step Two: Destroy the Republic.
Think both Step One and Two have been happening since at least 2008 if not earlier.
Sure, who knows. Manchin has to lay the groundwork either for betraying his country or for buying it off.
Manchin wants a lot of new projects for WV I’m sure.
