I’ve now learned of two more large scale rash reactions, delayed 7-10 days after a second shot, but lasting several days in both those cases. These seem to lean a little more toward shingles-like symptoms. Both are one person removed from me, that is, they were reported to me by someone I know who knows the person affected. One affected is a person who received the Pfizer vaccine, the other, Moderna. In both cases, the person’s PCP appears to be aware of this type delayed reaction that is NOT a site location reaction. I’ve not searched again for a couple days, so as of 3/22 I’d not seen anything online about it.

I still plan to get my 2nd shot in a week, but, the lack of information, given that I now know of 3 such reactions out of a modest pool of people, is a bit disquieting.

The bottom line, is uncomfortable, but not serious or lasting. It’s relatively rare, but if family members (or within a tight community group) had it, you might share a susceptible genotype or lifestyle factors.

The other article that I linked for you, referenced a discussion of this “COVID Arm” rash, in the New England Journal of Medicine.

The authors are interviewed here (https://abc7.com/how-long-will-my-arm-be-sore-after-covid-19-shot-rash-moderna-pfizer-vaccine/10426165/), and speculate that it is due to a rare reaction to PEG as a stabilizer in the vaccine - which is known to happen with other vaccines as well.

Significantly, they state: “For most people it was much less with their second dose,” said Dr. Saff.”

Thanks for the links. They do add the “delayed” aspect, however, I have yet to find an article describing vaccine related shingles-like rashes over one’s torso and more, or, in my wife’s case, a whole body rash (literally every square inch of skin from head to toe affected), each instance after the 2nd shot (and no noticeable allergic reaction after the 1st shot.)

The 2nd article talks about 1-5 persons in a million having the arm rash reactions... I have these 3 body rash cases, described “nowhere”, and my pool of people “one person removed”, with this different reaction, can’t possibly be at this point over a couple thousand. ...Not that I’ve heard from anyone that “close” with an arm rash reaction, possibly because that’s not been my inquiry.

I still suppose these rashes could have had nothing to do with the vaccinations, but then why did none occur with different onset timing? That would seem to drive the odds against coincidence past astronomical into the truly absurd.

I tried to find some common factor, as you mentioned in your other post, but the only common factor I can find is that all 3 “reactees” are female. There is no family connection, no race or age commonality, the locations are thousands of miles apart, the living circumstances vary greatly...

It is a true puzzler.
