The alleged gunman charged with slaughtering 10 people at a Colorado supermarket bought an assault rifle a week prior to the shooting — and was caught “playing” with it by a family member, according to new court documents.
Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa purchased a Ruger AR-556 pistol on March 16 — six days before going on a deadly rampage at the King Soopers in Boulder, according to an affidavit unsealed Tuesday.
His sister-in-law, whose name is redacted, told investigators that she saw Alissa, 21, “playing with a gun she thought looked like a ‘machine gun'” in the days prior to the shooting, the court papers say.
“Alissa had been talking about having a bullet stuck in the gun and was playing with the gun,” the affidavit reads.
The document notes that the sister-in-law — who was tracked down by detectives at Alissa’s home on Monday night — was “hesitant to mention” what she’d seen.

Well, the pistol has “AR” in the name, and every media talking head will tell you that the “AR” stands for “Assault Rifle”!
When did Trump make a hand brace illegal? Are you sure you’re not thinking of a bump stock? Totally different thing.
It is semantics. It has an AR design and lower with a “wrist brace” that works just like a shoulder-stock if you use it that way. It is approximately the same size as a “patrol rifle” as described by the officers who saw him and engaged in the shoot-out and from the end of a grocery store aisle. It takes the same magazines as an AR rifle and the same caliber ammunition.
Hard to tell if the barrel is 16”, 12”, or 8” under those circumstances and realistically it changes nothing. The officer who said on the dispatch tapes that he had a “patrol carbine” was pretty accurate given what the responding officers were carrying.
The average person does not understand the difference nor do they care. It’s an “AR” to them. “Legally” it is a pistol. Realistically, it is an SBR. Don’t believe me? Go watch youtube and just about everyone firing an “AR pistol” is using it like a rifle with the wrist brace on their shoulder. Few understand the difference and in the end, what difference does this make? Would the results have been different with a 16” barrel and collapsible or fixed stock? Probably not.
The average person would call it a rifle. Rifle caliber. Rifle magazines. Rifle action. Rifle stock (collapse your Magpul down and its same size as “wrist brace”) if you fire it from the shoulder. The only true difference is the barrel length. Every other feature is the same to the point that you can put your rifle upper on the pistol lower or vice versa (which would be illegal).
I don’t see how “we” can win this argument if we frame it like they do. No offense intended, but we make a mistake playing their games. You and I understand the difference. We are in an extreme minority.
He banned both via EO.
Its retarded.
SSR Eyes
Because “Ahmad” is racist, you racist (me too).
/s
essentially yes. But they call it a hand brace rather than a stock which is how they get away with a 10” barrel and calling it a pistol to avoid being designated a short barrel rifle. Yet I’ve never seen anyone use it any other way than as a shoulder mounted stock.
Trump made me a criminal via EO for what I can do with my body.
I love the guy but he was plain wrong and gave the dems more ammo.
When they focus on the weapon and not the person, they are engaging in deflection. Any time it’s deflection, you know they are lying to you. If you want to burn down the printing press to kill the messenger, you are reacting to the message of deflection. The messenger always gets away with no accountability.
Either Muzzie Brotherhood, Antifa or BLM. Safe bet that he is a full bore democRAT.
Unreadable.......
I had a ppsh43 pistol, useless without the folding stock.
AR based pistols? slip an L shaped bit of PVC over the buffer tube and viola!
Thank you!
It's a pistol, not a rifle because if it were are rifle, it would be a NFA short barrel rifle.
Exactly. I used to take. Never had fatties in my dojos or at tournaments. Especially at that “age”.
A fat dude...with a red leg??
A fat dude with a balding head and Im supposed to believe he’s 21 yrs old..looks more like he’s in his late 40s
And I don't own anything remotely like that........
Ha...maybe so.
It’s not pistol. Good grief.
