Miami Beach was calm on Monday evening after raucous weekend where officials called a state of emergency and enforced a curfew to curb the wild partying and resulting riots.
Officers along Ocean Drive moved in on a crowd of partygoers after the 8pm curfew fell, as many took off running. One person was detained, but the area was much calmer than the night before, Local 10 reported.
Dan Gelber, the mayor of Miami Beach, stressed in a video statement on Monday that many of the vacationers are not 'college kids on their vacation,' but rather visitors who are traveling with criminal intentions.
In recent weeks, South Beach saw brawls, crowd stampedes and police confrontations involving the use of pepper balls.

In addition to the violence, so many of these “spring breakers” are skipping out on their bills. I heard that one restaurant saw about 20 tables skip in a night and experienced two major brawls that did some property damage. And that was just one restaurant. It’s happening all over.
To be honest, I’m not sure it makes much sense for a restaurant to be open in this environment. If this kind of activity is going to be an annual thing in Miami Beach for a certain demographic like it is in Myrtle Beach and a few other places, maybe they should switch to a pre-pay menu for a few weeks.
I imagine a lot of rooms are going to need a deep clean and some serious repairs after this.
Seriously, I do try not to be racist. The scum left will rationalize barbaric behavior by those of color and simply blame me because of my color. Every day brings me more despair to our once great country and such a pure hatred for the left that enables this behavior.
