White House prepares massive infrastructure bill with universal pre-K, free community college, climate measures

White House officials are preparing to present President Biden with a roughly $3 trillion infrastructure and jobs package that includes high-profile domestic policy priorities such as free community college and universal prekindergarten, according to three people familiar with internal discussions.

After completing the $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package this month, Biden administration officials are piecing together the next major legislative priority. Although no final announcement has been made, the White House is expected to push a multitrillion-dollar jobs and infrastructure plan as the centerpiece of the president’s “Build Back Better” agenda.

That effort is expected to be broken into two parts — one focused on infrastructure, and the other focused on other domestic priorities such as growing the newly expanded child tax credit for several years. The people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe private conversations, stressed that planning was preliminary and subject to change. Some aides said that the package’s final price tag remains unclear.

“People don’t want childcare, they want to be able to afford raising their own children.”

Define “people’.

My suspicion is they are going to use the British model of “A Levels and O Levels”.

But I will say this. In the UK....they don’t have “Core Curriculum”. They go to college for 3 years and study nothing but their major.

Both my kids did “Dual Enrollment” at our local college...and both graduated HS with Associate’s degrees.

We paid for it....but it was still cheaper than sending them to uni. And they got scholarships for the rest. BY THEIR MERIT!

Maybe it wouldn’t be too bad if the community colleges taught kids how to be electricians, plumbers, welders and such. We have an abundance of kids out there that aren’t really cut out for advanced college courses but there is a need for skilled tradesmen/women and I think I’d rather have them get a good paying skill than end up turning to heroin and/or communism.

Hi.

A basketball coach used to tell me when his team lost they were OOC. Out of control. (You may have heard of Old Dominion U?)

Anyway, one day inflation is going to kick in, and then things will get totally OOC.

Free community college

Either the teachers are working for free and they’re independently wealthy, the building maintenance and functions are donated by the utility companies with extra revenue

Or the taxpayers in the middle class are getting charged.

We know tge government is 23 trillion in debt so they have no funds to give away

How stupid.

Better results for producing more brainwashed leftists....both with unionized teachers and, sadly, with the kids....as we’re now ‘reaping’ the whirlwind of their/the left’s dream ‘education’ system ‘investments’.

:-(

Our kids also did the dual enrollment. Had almost half of their college credits, by the time they graduated HS. (Scholarships, as well.)

And, at a MUCH cheaper/class rate than the University classes.

It’s a great program.

Anyone who isn’t bought in on the NPR/NYT agenda. Nobody really likes the idea of daycare, it’s just become a necessity for people feeling the need to have dual incomes.

I’m afraid that’s not true for many who can be called ‘parents’. They’d love free childcare (and the meals that come with them). That would free up time and resources for them to pursue their preferred, shall we say ‘activities’. After all why should they be expected to feed or care for the children they’ve brought into the world?

Many schools have ‘graduated’ from providing lunches and breakfasts to providing a light evening meal to their students. And of course many provide ‘backpacks’ so the kids don’t go hungry during weekends or school breaks.

I have to give the Democrats points. They are pushing bunch of stuff though the congress. Pretty much all they ever wished for.
The Republicans could not pass anything! Not even Obamacare reform. No stopping immigration, no border security, no expelling illegals .. Took them a year to pass modest tax reform. Always finding excuses.

$5 TRILLION in spending on every Democrat wet dream imaginable. Utter insanity. There are no adults in that party.

What will their encore be a year or ten down the road? $50 TRILLION in spending?

Fortunately, what's happening in Venezuela cannot possibly happen here. Right?

Hyperinflation Pushes Venezuela to Print 1,000,000-Bolivar Bills

By Patricia Laya and Nicolle Yapur, March 5, 2021

Venezuela said it will introduce new large-denomination bolivar notes as hyperinflation renders most bills worthless, forcing citizens to turn to the U.S. dollar for everyday transactions.

The country’s central bank posted a statement on its website Friday saying it would begin circulating the new 200,000, 500,000 and 1,000,000 bills to “fulfill the current economy’s requirements” without providing further details. The 1,000,000 note -- the largest in the nation’s history -- is worth only $0.53 cents.

We have one kid at work who came over from an HVAC company, and in all honestly he’s dumber than a bag of hammers. Even before he hit his 90 days, he’s already on his last chance letter.
