I know the challenges Trump will face in building up a credible and usable social media platform.

President Trump will have vastly more resources (human and technical), and vastly more power and vastly more money and vastly more business experience than Facebook and Twitter did when they first started.
What business experience did Zuckerberg have when he first started Facebook? ZERO.
President Trump has had over FORTY YEARS business experience in the toughest business in the toughest market on the planet. And been very successful at it.
Not to mention President Trump starting a brand new TV progrsm called “The Apprrntice” and getting a massive 20 million people watching it whenever it was on. And oh, did I mention he run for president the very first time actually WON?
You are basically talking about the wrong man here, dude.
President Trump actually does what people like you think he can't do. Been doing it all his life.

And I know that Trump has never done anything like this before.

You mean like President Trump had never run for President as a Republican before back in 2015?
Listen to yourself man.

He won't have more resources. Watch how this will work - he will have trouble finding existing software firms who will contract to do this work for him. This should be obvious. If he sets up his own company, it will take him at least a year simply to staff the company and get the beginnings of projects set up - and that's assuming he's able to attract enough talent in the first place.

Twitter and Facebook operated in spaces which were formed by them - there were no existing social media monopolies or cloud infrastructure monopolies when they started. Any company which tries to operate in the social media space now will face hostile monopolies, as Parler learned. And any company backed by Trump will face far more hostility than Parler ever did.
