There are plenty of jobs that women can do that do not involve direct combat, and in a crisis women could be DRAFTED to perform these jobs which frees up MEN for combat roles.
Women want equal rights? Make it mandatory for them to register for the draft.

Since we will never likely draft again, it is a mostly pointless issue meant to simply stir the pot.
The argument might serve a purpose if applied correctly. If women want ‘equality, then they should have to register. That should be a separate issue from combat readiness and woman in combat. Women are NOT equal to men in the physical sense, and if we want the.best combat soldiers, we should have strict physical requirements on that. Given that, one could also usefully argue that ERA is based on a false premise and the sexes would both be happier if they cherished the different but complimentary qualities that make us better together.
But of course that assumes only two sexes/genders....
