Judges would join the state Senate in hearing an impeachment trial
New York lawmakers are preparing an impeachment investigation of Gov. Andrew Cuomo, but should they vote to hold a trial, the outcome will be determined in part by the state's seven Court of Appeals judges — all of whom were appointed by Cuomo himself.
Unlike federal impeachment trials, where only the Senate votes on the verdict, New York impeachment trials add Court of Appeals judges to the mix.
The court for the trial of impeachments shall be composed of the president of the senate, the senators, or the major part of them, and the judges of the court of appeals, or the major part of them," the state constitution reads.
Those Court of Appeals judges are Rowan Wilson, Jenny Rivera, Leslie Stein, Eugene Fahey, Michael Garcia, Paul Feinman and Chief Judge Janet DiFiore. All of them were appointed by Cuomo between the years of 2013 and 2017.
"They're mostly liberal," former State Assembly Republican leader John Faso told Newsmax. "Very liberal. And they are all Democrats except one."
The seven judges could be instrumental in determining the outcome of a potential impeachment trial as they would make up 10% of the 70-person impeachment court, joining the 63 state senators.
Senate Majority Leader Andrew Stewart-Cousins told reporters that while she believes there is a majority that supports Cuomo's resignation, she had not looked into how her colleagues feel about impeachment.

Oddly enough, when a Democrat appoints judges you can be pretty sure that those judges will make decisions that help Democrats.

I think Cuomo is at odds with the DNC Crime Machine right now so that may not help him.

Lazy- kick it down the road, I have a golf game or the opera to attend.
Cowardly- I don’t want to be controversial because I don’t get to go to the cocktail parties.
Liberal- Here is how I want this to come out. Yo, law clerks, make some of that law stuff up to justify my decision. I am a king after all.
Let him stay in Office. The people deserve him. They put him there initially. This is only willie Brown’s Lady of the Evening trying yo get rid of future competition. He is the same son of a female dog that he has always been.

This Coumo situation says everything you need to know about Democrats. Killing people in nursing homes, while not cool, was ok with the Democrats. But, sexually harassing a woman, that calls for removal. Democrats are scum with no value.
If they won’t recuse themselves, the prosecutor should request an independent judge from an other jurisdiction, or a change of venue.

We need a new party with energy, determination and resolve to change this losing dynamic. We need fighters. Playing defense all the time isn’t a formula for winning.

Probably not. If he can cut a deal getting Federal and state prosecutors to give him a pass, he’ll resign. And figure in a couple years it will be forgotten. Heck, if it’s taking longer in 2024 he can run for Gillibrand’s seat. Get Biden to appoint her to a cabinet post first. He’ll have the inside track, in his own mind.
Nothing will happen to Cuomo. Like any good capo Cuomo knows who and how the Democrats benefited from the massive corruption. He himself is insulated but he knows the details of the TappanZee bridge corruption, and where the money went that resulted in shoddy construction. He knows the details of just how the Federal honey pot that was to go to nursing homes for “caring” for Covid patients was to be divided. He is well aware of the Democrats that were appointed “lobbyists” and laundered the bribes to get regulations changed and laws “interpeted”. He also knows to whom the lobbyists kicked back.This past weekend his henchmen called the unruly Democrats and reminded them that details of their activities just might be appearing in papers or on line.
Bottom line: The Democrats may be tired of the old tyrant but he is not going anywhere. those women can march down Park Avenue with Oprah and he will not care or move.
Let not your heart be troubled. Cuomo will come out of this with a Pulitzer and a Nobel!/s
