How about a deal?
It’s called “One for One”.
For each citizen killed by a criminal, one city official is also put to death. The official may be chosen by the citizen’s family.

Proposing to abolish the police department of a city of 30,000 should be sufficient grounds to commit its mayor to an insane asylum.

“Everyone wants the police to perform better when they show up, everybody wants that,” Myrick told journalist Wesley Lowery.Especially the criminal thugs....
It's obvious why this kid mayor is not working for NASA.....He's not a rocket scientist...

I drove through Ithaca once. The buildings and stores were dripping all over with HilLIARy signs. It seems that each was trying to outdo the other with their liberalism.

Ithaca’s two main campuses - Cornell and Ithaca College, will still keep their campus police.
the town itself has a few rough edges, but nothing close to Los Angeles or Chicago.
At heart its still a small town.

Cornell is in Ithica. It makes one wonder about campus security there. Is there a campus police force? Is Cornell right in town or on the edge of town? Are the campus police real police as opposed to mall.cop type security guards? Are elements of a liberal university behind trying to force the abandonment of police in that town?

it'll take Cornellians getting murdered and the city sued before the pendulum starts the other way

“the vicious legacy of White supremacy is a root cause of suffering across the globe” Across the globe, eh? Suffering in Africa, South and Central America, Asia and the Middle East are absolutely not caused by white supremacy. Nor is suffering in Europe and North America.

... noting that both city residents and law enforcement agree that “when people call 911, there should be the option for the dispatcher to send a variety of professionals, not just someone with a badge and a gun. Just send me a gun in case one of mine jams. Thanks.

This excerpt is reminiscent of days gone by (like in Nazi Germany)
Under the reimagined format, Ithaca’s streets would be patrolled by armed “public safety workers” and unarmed “community solution workers,” who would collaborate and report to a civilian director of public safety.... Should they be rehired, the former officers would don redesigned uniforms baring a “more welcoming agency brand.”

A progressive mayor’s proposal to abolish the police department of a small city in upstate New York is sparking concerns among residents that the reform effort will exacerbate a recent spike in violent crimeYa think?
