Throw billions of dollars at school districts in California, and what do you expect?
A group called Reopen California Schools got access to online memos from teachers’ unions in California and discovered that in some districts, enriching their members weighs heavier on their priorities than, say, PPE equipment or programs to help children recover from their prolonged absence from the classrooms. Here is what the teachers’ union in Dublin, CA, a well-to-do suburb east of San Francisco is discussing:
CA school district (@DublinUSD) is paying its teachers $2,500 bonuses with state and federal aide money, even suggesting staff could use the money for a trip to Hawaii (see c. and d.)
This comes despite the sad hybrid plan approved before any aid bills were passed.

Here is a portion of the graphic revealing the priority given to childcare for the children of teachers, trips to Hawaii, and the concern that it looks bad for teachers to move to the front of the line for vaccination and still refuse to do their jobs.

A spokesman for the union attempted damage control, speaking to the UK Daily Mail:
Robbie Kreitz, speaking on behalf of the teacher's union, told DailyMail.com that item listed in the internal memo was 'taken out of context.'
'We have been laser focused on bargaining for the safe return to campus for all Dublin students. In fact we return to the table tomorrow to continue that work,' Kreitz said.
'The comment you are referencing was on an internal DTA member communication and was taken out of context.'

Why not use the money to pay substitute teachers so the actual union teachers don’t ever have to work again and still keep their salary, isn’t that what they really want?
Yes, the “optics” are “bad”, as they reveal their true character.
Hawaii must really be hurting for Nancy to allow this after the Cruz Cancun problem.I say send them the place is currently flooding terribly.
I’ve been saying all along that even if and when we succeed in recalling Newsom his successor will be made the same “offer s/he can’t refuse” by the teachers’ unions. I don’t think there’s a politician left in California willing to stand up to that monster.
it's for the chil'rens
First thing I’d do is to put money in the pension fund. It’s either now or will pay later when the fund runs out of money. Next I’d put a lot in the rainy day fund. Whatever is left over, put in areas that the virus destroyed like small businesses. If they did that, California would continue to be the fifth largest economy of the world.
The PR person who came up with that BS line must have made millions.
Trips to Hawaii have worked wonders for leftist California officials for decades.
Just doing what their leaders tell them to do..
Become a teacher and go to Hawaii!!
Ya know....if we had any leadership in Washington this would be a perfect time for a PATCO moment. That is, if we had any leadership in Washington.
OH Yeah... 100%
