I was going to say how much I enjoy getting lectured on faith by someone who probably hasn’t stepped foot in a church in decades.
But, I broke longstanding FReeper tradition and actually read the article.
If the “church” invested in a movie about a nice guy and extremely talented poofter, then Elton John makes a good point.
I left the catholic system when I became an evangelical Christian 40 or so years ago so I don’t have a dog in the fight.
But, what a bunch of hypocrites.
I’m sure Elton has been slammed himself on more than a few occasions.
I wonder what maganer this investment was made. It was probably part of a large syndication? I am doubting someone was actively picking certain movies to invest in?
LOL
(And on some, hopefully few, occasions, mea culpa.)
On that one point, Rocket Buttplug is right.
The country of Vatican city invested in an independent fund and that fund independently invested in various things. Not “the church”.
It’s similar to if you invest in a mutual fund — note that
1. the country of the Vatican is not the sole investor in that fund.
2. it’s not the manager of the fund, just a passive investor.
