Absolutely pathetic. I tried using my VA loan last year for the first time in 35 years, they put me through the ringer because of my average credit from a difficult divorce. America is over the cliff and I am now responsible for paying for everyone else, makes me sick to my stomach.
We have always been able to lend to visa holders who have a legal status here.
Meanwhile the CT legislature is debating raising taxes to in part fund this:
“Another provision calls for allowing undocumented workers to receive the state earned income tax credit, which is open to those who qualify for the federal credit.”
So, it’s kinda like the GI Bill, except ya’ don’t have to serve your country. Heck, ya’ don’t even have to be a citizen.
In the run up during the last housing boom, I bought a few houses from defaulting owners with “suspicious” federally backed loans. Using straw borrower/buyers to get a foreign natioal a house is pretty common here in LA [Yes, it’s fraud, but no one cares]. In every case the non-citizen bought WAY MORE house than they could afford, I got the property, and made a tidy profit.
So while I’m politically and philosophically opposed to this type of give-away, I can see profits in the future!
