‘It’s Only Six Votes’: Pelosi Excuses Democrats From Launching Probe to Possibly Unseat GOP Member
Epoch Times ^ | March 15, 2021 | JACK PHILLIPS

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Sunday excused Democrats who launched an investigation into possibly unseating an elected GOP House representative, explaining that the margin of victory was extremely slim.

“It was six votes,” Pelosi told ABC News on Sunday, noting the number of votes by which Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-Iowa) defeated her Democratic opponent, Rita Hart.

Miller-Meeks was ultimately seated in Congress after votes were counted, recounted, and certified by the state. Several days ago, the House Administration Committee started a process that could lead to Miller-Meeks being unseated.

“It was six votes, and our candidate Rita Hart, the Democratic candidate asked for this process to begin,” Pelosi told ABC. “What the committee did, the House Administration Committee, was very narrow to take the process to the next step and see where it goes from there. An election of six votes out of 400,000 votes cast. This is not unique. This has happened, maybe even when you were in the Capitol before when races had been close one side or the others saying, let’s take it to the House.”

She said that former Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia “agreed that the House has the authority to seat members,” meaning that “we can count the votes.”

Several days prior to her interview, Pelosi told reporters in a press conference that overturning the election in favor of Hart is a “hypothetical” situation but later said it’s possible.

“Well, I respect the work of the committee,” the California Democrat said on March 12. “I did see, as you saw in the press, what they decided to—and they were following my, as I read it, the requirements of the law as to how you go forward. And how you go forward is the path you’re on and we’ll see where that takes us. But there could be a scenario to that extent. Yes.”

Epoch Times Photo Mariannette Miller-Meeks answers a question during a debate in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Oct. 8, 2020. (Rebecca F. Miller/The Gazette via AP) Pelosi, with her Sunday comment, appeared to be echoing a statement sent out by Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.), the chair of the House Administration Committee, to her members saying that “the margin separating the two candidates was only six votes out of almost 400,000 cast: less than 1/6 of 1 percent. That’s six votes—not 6,000; not 600; not 60 or even 16—just six fewer votes than we have members of this committee.”

According to the Federal Contested Elections Act of 1969, the House has the ability to decide close congressional races on its own aside from the courts.

After the investigation was launched by the Democrat-led committee, Republicans cried foul.

Rep. Bryan Steil (R-Wis.) said that Miller-Meeks was declared the winner of the contest.

“Miller-Meeks has won the election, the majority of Iowa has fairly elected their representative. The Democratic majority in Washington should not stand in the way and delay this process any longer and spend taxpayer money on unnecessary legal fees,” he said.

They already perpetrated the greatest election fraud in the history of this nation and now they want to steal another House seat. The Tree of Liberty grows thirsty.

Since the Dems only have a 5 vote margin in the House, lets Fire Pelosi as Speaker and hand the gavel to Kevin.

Yepp.

The GOP plays by the rules and the demonkkkraps play to take power. When Trump was trying to get the GOP’s “attention” in the House, some here in FR thought it was outside the law, and to try it would only allow the demonkkkraps to challenge future elections. (Note to self - see what happens if ever the kkkraps lose a POTUS race) ...

Since FDR., the demonkkkraps never fear “testing” the limits of the laws, taking them to places that were never intended and operate as if they don’t exist, many times win and get away with it. Even attempting the removal of a former POTUS from office via impeachment!!! Today kkkraps can count on their corp media propaganda wing and always count on those noble, pipe-tobacco smoking, baritone voiced DC GOP to play within the rules that the kkkraps ignore and keep changing.

They will simply change the rules... slightly. Allow some votes that were previously disqualified by State authorities.

I November of ‘84, a Dem member of Congress from southern Indiana was defeated. It was close but was certified by the Sec of State.

It wouldn’t have changed the house one bit. The Dems were firmly in charge. But that didn’t stop them. They refused to seat the incoming GOP rep,(Richard McCloskey)and decided to review the contested paper ballots themselves.

In the House Administration Committee, they reviewed and reviewed the contested paper ballots ‘til they got the numbers they wanted and seated the defeated dem incumbent (McCloskey) on a mostly party-line vote in the House. A few southern Dems defected and voted with the Republicans but the final vote wasn’t close.

It was a chaotic time in the House. The Republicans were infuriated that the Dems would try to lord the House seat over them - one seat that wouldn’t have changed a thing. There was real talk of civil disobedience on the House floor and a lot of really angry invective in committee and on the floor. Even the so-called RINO’s and country club Republicans were really angry.

It was incidents like these that led to the rise of a little known GOP House member from Georgia by the name of Newt Gingrich.

Sorry, a typo in my previous post...

McIntyre was the GOP member who won the race.

McCloskey was the defeated House member who was given his seat back.

Who can blame her? Surely she is used to there always being a box of uncounted ballots to be found somewhere. There always is. And they miraculously always come up 90% Democrat (or better). It is just how it is in her world. If it doesn’t happen that way, surely foul play is involved.
