I’d use a virus of some sort. Maybe a test virus and see how countries react to it, and then a REAL bad one.

Yep, and I would create enough fear and panic in people that they would rush to take a vaccine that will weaken the immune system, so that the next virus will finish them off.m, because of said weakened immune system.

“it takes command codes to launch which will be rendered useless by a well-placed EMP attack - pretty much”

A committee trying to decide to use the codes would also be a problem.

Wait until an EMP is used against us, and the EBT cards (and everything else) don’t work. If you think guns and ammo are hard to get now . . .

When you imply that perversion and deviance are merely different orientations and are analogous to normal you’re not doing society any favors. If you think patriotisim or anything else rises in importance above sex in the mind of a deviant you don’t understand deviance.

Private choices are nobodies business. But when a society openly and wilfully elevates bad choices to equivalence with good it is in the process of dying.

One weapon, one single event will not wipe out the entire power grid in the US. Multiple, simultaneous events might bring down a good portion of it though, at least temporarily.

Scariest book I ever read. The North Koreans, Iranians or rogue Islamist group are capable of a single surreptitious launch off a freighter. The MAD theory no longer keeps us safe. I felt a whole lot safer with Trump.

Unlike wars past, Americans would be wise to prepare for war on our soil. The days of war on distant lands is pretty much over.

When the next world war comes, and it will come, Americans should know there will likely be American casualties on American soil.

The stage is being set. When is anyone’s guess, but geopolitical events around the world are shaping up for a power shift from American dominance to ???. Probably China.

“.... reducing us to the level of neanderthals throwing rocks and spears.”

Ummmm .... don’t think so. We’ll still have our conventional non-computerized weapon systems for a time. Once the ammo and means to make it arrive (somewhat unlikely) then we’re left with swords, knifes, tomahawks, bows/arrows, trebuchet’s, slingshot’s, slings, and other assorted “old school” weaponry.

The idea of an EMP weapon that can wipe out the electrical grid of a country the size of America is Hollywood fantasy.

Yep. The electromagnetic pulse from the Starfish Prime H-bomb at 250 miles altitude knocked out street lights and garage door openers in Honolulu 900 miles away.

There are very few world powers who could detonate an H-bomb at altitude over the center of the USA. If they decided to do that, it would be as part of a massive doomsday attack, which would not stop our submarines from launching a retaliatory strike, welcome to the end of the world.

Your iPhone won't work because there's nobody alive on the other end, not because of a lack of electricity.

The weak and unprepared will die,...the strong will survive. Blockade the cities, let them cannibalize themselves.

Jericho — pretty good mini series.

I get a kick out of people that say an EMP wouldn’t do anything. Hello, Carrington event? Melted thick solid copper telegraph lines, electrocuted operators and set stations on fire.

Satellites being affected by a solar flare is a big concern. Some nukes set off high enough might affect low orbit satellites too. I don’t know if a man made emp could be powerful enough to burn up large transformers or not.

The next solar maximum is 2024 but it seems like the late 1800s and early 1900s had more activity than anything since.

It's not that an EMP wouldn't do anything as much as the other stuff that would come along with an EMP (were one to occur) would be a far greater and immediate concern.
