Dr. Atlas recently shared the following at an online conference:
The coronavirus pandemic has been a great tragedy, there can be no doubt about that. But it has also exposed profound issues in America that now threaten the very principles of freedom and order that we Americans often take for granted.
First, I have been shocked at the enormous power of the government, to unilaterally decree, to simply close businesses and schools by edict, restrict personal movement, mandate behavior, and eliminate our most basic freedoms, without any end and little accountability.
Second, I remain surprised at the acceptance by the American people of draconian rules, restrictions, and unprecedented mandates, even those that are arbitrary, destructive, and wholly unscientific.
This crisis has also exposed what we all have known existed, but we have tolerated for years: the overt bias of the media, the lack of diverse viewpoints on campuses, the absence of neutrality in big tech controlling social media, and now more visibly than ever, the intrusion of politics into science. Ultimately, the freedom to seek and state the truth is at risk here in the United States.

It is a must read article it is long
From the article
The United States is on the precipice of losing its cherished freedoms, with censorship and cancellation of all those who bring views forward that differ from the “accepted mainstream.”
It is not clear if our democracy, with its defining freedoms, will recover, even after we survive the pandemic itself. But it is clear that people must step up – meaning speak up, as we are allowed, as we are expected to do in free societies – or it has no chance.
Finally: Mackay, again, presciently spoke about the herd: “Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.”
So, how do we proceed at this very moment, in this country, with its heavily damaged psyche? Those of us who want the truth must keep seeking it, and those of us who see the truth must keep speaking it. Even if the recovery from madness is slow, and even if it is only one by one. Because truth matters.
Not a mistake, this is a plan
I agree with their premise that this is horrendous in terms of freedom.
Wait until the new Brazil P.1 variant hits us. It’s going to make the first 2 waves look like childs play.
Doing something on purpose despite the evidence to the contrary is not a “mistake” but a tactic. It’s past time everyone realizes that the Dems purchased the virus from China and the response was part of setting up the steal.

There, fixed it. Remember this lockdown madness was worldwide, not just the United States.
Enormous power of the government? I’d worry more about the enormous power of the health care cartel.
“Dems purchased the virus from China and the response was part of setting up the steal.”
They didn’t have to purchase it. What you might do is take a look at the CC ego and practices. China has been imploding for a couple of decades. They have almost reached, publicly, the saturation point of being able to run their country based upon population numbers, unfit land they are controlling, (you can’t farm the Himalayas) and the natural disasters they have had over the last years. In the last few decades, almost all types of major hazards except volcanic eruptions have hit China; these include earthquakes, typhoons, floods, droughts and sandstorms, storm surges, landslides and debris flows, hailstorms, cold waves, heat waves, pests and rodent disease, forest and grassland fires, and red tides. In a few words, God got’em.
So when Trump hammered them financially, and the rest of the world piled on, they fought back their best way. They sent out a virus to hurt people. The US was only part of the reason they did it. But the act of reigning in China should have been done in the 90’s at the latest. Instead, Clinton started the ball rolling toward our possible demise. And now we are feeling the result from the Asian nations. Trump was a day late, and a virus short. Why haven’t our government officials protected us? It wasn’t profitable. (For them)

Regardless what the misguided (imo) Roberts Court wanted everybody to think about the constitutionality of Obamacare, please consider this. Not only had previous generations of state sovereignty-respecting justices clarified that the states have never expressly constitutionally given the feds the specific power to dictate, regulate, tax and spend in the name of INTRAstate healthcare, healthcare not listed in Congress’s very limited constitutional powers, but also consider the following.
In the third item listed below, the Supreme Court used healthcare-related power to quarantine, let’s call it the power to order medical lockdowns, as an example of a government power that is uniquely a state power issue.
"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States." —Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
"State inspection laws, health laws, and laws for regulating the internal commerce of a State, and those which respect turnpike roads, ferries, &c. are not within the power granted to Congress [emphases added].” —Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
"Inspection laws, quarantine laws, health laws of every description [emphasis added], as well as laws for regulating the internal commerce of a state and those which respect turnpike roads, ferries, &c., are component parts of this mass.” —Justice Barbour, New York v. Miln., 1837.
"Obviously, direct control of medical practice [emphases added] in the states is beyond the power of the federal government.” —Linder v. United States, 1925.
”From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added].” —United States v. Butler, 1936.
Regarding Democratic-pirated state governments like California that allegedly weaponized COVID-19 to oppress the people, citizens in all states need to do the following. Citizens need to primary lawmakers and candidates for public office who don’t agree to the following changes to their state constitutions to better protect the people from lockdown-happy liberals.
State constitutions need to be amended to put time limits on lockdowns and on the mandatory wearing of masks.
State constitutions also need to be amended to make state health and environmental protection officials elected by popular vote.
Constitutionally time-limited lockdowns and limited mask requirements need to automatically trigger special recall elections for governors, mayors and disaster officials who order lockdowns and mask wearing, also state lawmakers.
Finally, constitutions need to require people planning to run for state and local offices to escrow a refundable "recall deposit" before becoming a candidate, the deposit fully paying in advance for their possible recall elections if they are elected, amounts determined by law.
"Two gin-scented tears trickled down the sides of his nose. But it was all right, everything was all right, the struggle was finished. He had won the victory over himself." And then, in one simple phrase, Orwell delivers one of the most heartbreaking lines in literature: "He loved Big Brother."
Thus Winston Smith submitted to The State. We are halfway to 1984 in our nation. Only rebellion with save our nation.
It looks like the democrat party will keep us in prison as long as they can. What will they do afterward?
In Minnesota: “Target said late last month, the company said they would delay on-site return for its 12,000 HQ employees in downtown Minneapolis and Brooklyn Park. Originally scheduled to return in June, the decision was pushed back to the fall of 2021”
