Left-wing San Francisco DA faces recall petition amid crime spike

San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin is facing a recall campaign amid a crime spike in the liberal city.

Richie Greenberg – a former mayoral candidate for the Golden Gate city – launched the petition to recall the city’s far-left district attorney, citing unsafe streets and Boudin’s soft-on-crime policies.

The Committee Supporting the Recall of District Attorney Chesa Boudin announced Tuesday that they had been authorized by the Department of Elections to start gathering signatures on the petition.

I believe so, his history, beliefs, mentors, parents, foster parents and entire life are an open book and San Francisco voters would have to be INCREDIBLY stupid not to have known.

Greenberg had better be prepared to have Molotov cocktails lobbed at his house.

“I believe so, his history, beliefs, mentors, parents, foster parents and entire life are an open book and San Francisco voters would have to be INCREDIBLY stupid not to have known.”

It would be instructive to find out just what the people there were thinking when they voted him in. It’s hard to believe that even Leftists wanted an explosion in street crime (other than the very wealthy ones, who can usually isolate themselves from it).

I would want to know if the people did know his background, and still voted for him. But I suspect he ran some well-produced commercials making him look tough (i.e., conservative) and outspent his opponent at least 10 to 1, as the Dems are simply swimming in money, whereas the Republicans, much due to their own idiocy, are not.

So, there’s a plan afoot to replace the extremely woke with the only moderately woke. San Francisco. Ugh.

The Dem Party nominee is an all but guaranteed winner in SF. No practical way for a non-Dem to win office.

Say what you will about Kamala, she knew how to play politics in California. As prosecutor she locked up as many criminals as she could and avoided most of the criticism for her severity because she checks at least 2 diversity boxes.

It’s California. San Francisco. He’s a Democrat. He didn’t need slick commercials, just win the primary (which is easier to do the farther left you are) and then gather all the government worker union votes and people who just reflexively hate Republicans in the general.

I would usually say let them sleep in the beds they’ve made. But as of this week we’ve learned that the Federal government is going to take our money to directly subsidize this. To the tune of billions. Do you realize our deficit this year looks to be at least 1600% larger than George Bush’s was his last term? That was only 12 years ago.

What’s really sad is that I don’t think either Newsome or Boudin will be recalled. The far left machine is now too strong there.

Concur. I give this about 1% chance of success. I doubt they will even collect enough signatures to get Chesa back on the ballot. Remember this is wacko SF, they actually elected this guy over a slew of more qualified candidates! The same city that elected Kamala and Terrance Hallinan who was the original Chesa.

I expect the Newsom recall will qualify for the ballot as there are enough sane people in the rest of the state who signed the petitions. But only about 60 people in SF signed the petition. They need 10k plus to recall Chesa.

Here's a Chesa Boudin campaign ad from November 5, 2019:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z33jPp8Rxeg

He doesn't quite say that he wants to increase crime, but he apparently has no interest in decreasing crime. So, close enough.

He wants "equity," which seems to mean equal judicial outcomes for everyone, whether or not they are criminals.
