...two preprint studies posted March 7, evidence doesn't support supplementing vitamin D to stave off the virus. In one study researchers from McGill University in Canada looked at data from people who were genetically predisposed to vitamin D deficiency. They analyzed whether supplementing the nutrient might lower their risk of infection or severe illness from COVID-19. They found no evidence that supplementing vitamin D could improve coronavirus outcomes.
In another study researchers from Aristotle University in Greece compared the rates of vitamin D deficiency with rates of COVID-19 infection and mortality in 24 European countries, including Finland, Italy, the UK, and Germany. The data did not show a significant link between lower vitamin D levels in the population and higher rates of death and illness...
...it's too early to conclude that supplementing could protect people from infection or complications.
"Vitamin D has been praised for too many things even though we have very limited data for that," Dr Michael Chourdakis, lead author of the European study.
This isn't the first research to cast doubt on vitamin D as a potential coronavirus treatment. A study published in November 2020 found that large doses of vitamin D didn't reduce the severity of COVID-19 in patients.
Despite the new doubts about the merits of vitamin D for coronavirus treatment, there's a large body of research that suggests the nutrient is crucial for a healthy immune system. There's good evidence it plays a role in fighting off viral infection, which could extend to COVID-19.
A study published in October 2020 found that coronavirus patients who were given a highly potent form of vitamin D were significantly less likely to need intensive care, and none of them died. And another study found people with a vitamin D deficiency were twice as likely to be infected.

The problem is this: as you noted, it’s well known people don’t get enough sunlight exposure in fall, winter and spring, but it’s also noted that since unhealthy people do not get as much exposure to the sun as do health people. Now, are people healthier because they get more Vitamin D or do healthier people naturally get more Vitamin D? In the case of CV, you’re playing the game of ‘you bet your life’.
AND yet the radicals KNOW for certain that a trillion dollars spent today on “green” energy will reduce the global temperature by 0.1 degree in 100 years.
Couldn't agree with you more. So many studies look at one drug or supplement in isolation and often use it at inappropriate stages of the disease, then declare "XYZ is useless." We saw that time and again with HCQ. That infuriates me.
I started the full recommended prophylaxis treatment shortly after Dr. Roger Seheult released his "Coronavirus Update 59: Dr. Roger Seheult's Daily Regimen (Vitamin D, C, Zinc, Quercetin, NAC)" on April 21, 2020. Almost the same recommendations were in the EVMS COVID Protocol at the time, too, and other doctors were beginning to make the same recommendations.
It would be real illuminating to see the results of a retrospective study of COVID cases and deaths for people who have been on this prophylaxis protocol for the past six to twelve months.
Everything that is not a huge profit maker may not be as protective against COVID-19 as previously thought, new data suggests.

In case you missed it:
EVERYTHING that is not a HUGE PROFIT MAKER many not be as protective against CCP-19 as previously KNOWN, new propaganda suggests.
Old study suggests it works for non-CCP-19 flu too:

Vit D3 does not meet the minimum cost requirement for the drug companies.
Desperate to keep the ATM on dispense. Got to make the big money before the deluge.
Yup. It’s even worse when it’s designed to fail for PR purposes.
I’m terribly disappointed that so much energy was put into destroying potentially viable off the shelf treatments by the CDC/NIH/FDA and the many states/pharmacy boards and the media following their lead. And of course, most doctors and hospitals following a similar institutional response. I don’t for a second believe it had anything to do with caring for patients and in any case what is a vaccine going to do for the millions of unresolved cases still pending in the USA and around the world?
Ivermectin seems to be even better than HCQ especially if you don’t catch it early enough. Small-ish countries that don’t expect to get vaccines anytime soon are buying it in massive quantities. This may end up being a case where the USA lead the world in the exact wrong direction.
I take all those myself, except the NAC. I’ve heard it mentioned but not quite sure what it contributes.
And fwiw, I take the “raw” form, naturally derived not synthetic. Not sure it makes a difference for these purposes but generally speaking I’m inclined to believe that the synthetics might be ever so imperceptibly different than those produced by nature. Maybe it makes no difference at all just my preference.
President Trump blew it by not launching a huge, full-scale, Operation Warp Speed II to evaluate existing drugs by themselves and in combination with other drugs. We would have had the necessary randomized clinical trials of many drugs and countless combinations by summer last year and that would have resulted in numerous approved therapies.
I bought Ivermectin to keep on hand last January.
But how would you get results desired, if you don't construct a weak study.
It may not improve outcomes but it likely lessens the odds of getting CCPV in the first place. When I got the symptoms way back in early last march I megadosed with D3 as per my MIL’s instruction for stoping flu and colds one has contracted and a few hours later it was all gone. D3 supps have kept me cold and flu free for 16 years with NO flu shots and a primary school teacher wife. She has avoided flu shots most years but hey were mandatory at school.
I totally agree. It was perhaps his biggest mistake. He did so many important things including deployment of the DPA, knocking pharma heads around, forcing the FDA to loosen the federal grip on testing labs and so much more.
But he talked up HCQ and the institutions of state immediately ridiculed him for it. He may have been a little gun shy, and I would bet that the careerists in the NIH/CDC/FDA were staunchly resistant to the idea that something off the shelf could be used. Why? You can guess at that as well as I can. No money to be made on generic pills and vitamins and minerals. No glory to be had discovering it. Too much glory to POTUS Trump if they did work.
Worst of all, if Ivermectin+ therapy or HCQ+ therapy was shown to work well then there would be no need to advance this mRNA technology. In fact, it would have destroyed the clinical trials for the vaccines since anyone on either arm could just go out and get an easy treatment. mRNA may have potential, it has been around many years but never before used to advance a single drug, vaccine or therapeutic into the world. IMO people like Fauci wanted the money to go there, and purposefully excluded all other options to protect those mRNA vaccine studies. (and let’s not forget, they also flubbed the testing remember the 3 reagent tests, that failed, so they just arbitrarily decided to toss out one of the reagents - some ‘scientist’ he is but frankly in an emergency you gotta work with what you’ve got which makes the kibosh they put on IVM and HCQ and others so much more frustrating).
Still leaving tens of millions of people in the lurch particularly those currently infected where a vaccine is too late. Those people do not serve the interests of humanity. FFS even the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention couldn’t be bothered to replenish stockpiles of PPE after 10 years and they have thousands of worker bees and billions of dollars to spend every year. But more fun to examine shrimp running on a treadmill.
They will now not allow it to be sold
waron vitamins continues
Zinc is anti-inflammatory, too.
Take the vax and like it
That sums it up. Give HCQ to people in the ICU ward. Oops one of them died of a heart attack, so that ‘proves’ it is dangerous!
10000 iu D3 per day since last March. 50mg zinc, 500mg Quercetin and 1000mg C.
Every day. My wife and I live normal lives and never worry about getting sick.
You mean the 500 cows I bought won’t help me with CoVid? May I sue the NIH? 😀
