With Roy Blunt (R-MO) recently announcing his retirement from the Senate in two years, the congressional reporter for Axios has decided to write about Republicans in the Senate who may be worried that “Trumpian troublemakers” could run and win the five Senate seats being vacated by establishment Republicans who are retiring in 2022, as reported by therightscoop.com.
According to Media Bias/Fact Check, Axios has a left of center bias. We can expect this writer to have an agenda that is less than favorable to the Republican party. With that said, here’s what she reported. Each of her bullet points is followed by my simple street-sense conservative deplorable patriot response:

Trump has come out in favor of one candidate in a number of races already.
They really needed to start this last year, but now he’s going to town.
...UniPartians (R) worried....there corrected it
Yes the sooner they choose the better. We need people who will get out there and meet the people, become known before the ads from both democrats and republicans try to destroy them with nonstop ads.
Even more worrisome, kingmaker TRUMP is backing 2022 candidates.
Can’t speak for the other states but in Missouri it’s going to be a crowded primary with no runoff so we’ll see.
I sent an email to the pubbie county chairman, and received 'crickets'.
They are not shy axing for money, but since Trump has come on the scene, I've stopped sending money to the pubbies.
The headline here is a twist on a great book about how to not be a participant in your abuse called “Codependent No More“. The message directly relates to something CTH discusses frequently in both articles and in the comments section.
In order to stop being abused, you must first stop making excuses for your abuser. Accept things as they are, not as you interpret them to be. This tweet by Robert Barnes is a great example:

At first blush Barnes is saying something we can all agree with. Yes, Liz Cheney is toxic to the base of support within the republican party; and yes, the GOP putting Cheney into a very visible position of leadership tells us something. However, the visiblity of Liz Cheney is not because the GOPe are stupidly disconnected from their base, Liz Cheney is purposefully visible because the GOPe wants her there. She is a feature not a flaw or mistake; and the GOP totally gets it.
The Republican party believes the conservative voter base of the party is the problem, not the leadership. Please accept that as an empirical fact or we will continue to have discussions that are misinterpretations of motive. From the mindset of the institutional Republican party YOU are the problem, not Liz Cheney.
When you finally accept that the RNC wing of the UniParty hates you, literally hates their base of voters, only then can you begin to break the cycle known as “Battered Conservative Syndrome.”
However, to break this toxic mindset we must stand firm against the abuser. THEY are the problem, not you. THEY work for you, not vice-versa.
The GOP leadership is supposed to represent your priorities, not carry out their priorities while managing your angst.
We The People are being abused by them.
Everything they are doing – they are doing because what they are doing is exactly what they want to do.
The institutional republican leadership are not making mistakes. Accept who they are.
Battered Conservative No More!

If you are a regular reader of this site you are generally a person who engages in intellectual discussion on daily events and more than likely a root cause thinker. Meaning you are able to grasp events at their cause and not at their consequence.
However, for some reason, many of those who understand big picture dynamics are still comfortable sticking their heads in the sand about “motive”. Many people are still clinging to actual beliefs around a principle of ‘rule of law’ that applies to National Leadership.
You’d better change that thinking quickly – or you’ll be asking ‘what happened’ far too late.
There seems to be a willful blindness on the part of the American people, a chosen refusal to acknowledge the implications of the unAmerican and unConstititional behaviors, actions and outcomes we are being served on a daily basis.
It can no longer be presumed to be a matter of “I can’t see what’s happening” because a whole lot of normal Americans really are clean and articulate.
“I can’t see it” just doesn’t cut it anymore.
just bear in mind..that for DJT..MAGA is quite a bit different that conservative Republican. And has to be to successfully pull in purple as only the UniParty could hope to.
Great post.
I always mock the people who call them “RINOs”. NO. Sasse, Romney, Cheney, Bush - THEY ARE THE REAL REPUBLICANS. They represent EXACTLY what the GOP is, what it wants, what they will do if given power.
And, what’s worse, THEY are the reason that Trump Democrats hate the GOP more than they hate their own party.
From the POV of a Trump Democrat, the Democrats have some stupid ideas, but they are at least not actively trying to destroy them and their way of life.
This is why I think Trump is wrong about a new party, and why I think taking over the GOP will fail. Yes, the GOP can be taken over, at least in some states. But the “hard RINO” faction will be perfectly happy to leave and become Democrats. This process is complete in states like Connecticut and New York, which regularly had competitive elections for the Senate and for their governorships until around 2000, but it is happening in other states as well.
Face reality. Those pale blue Republicans who are leaving HAVE TO BE REPLACED WITH DEMOCRATS, and tax cuts, austerity, and turning health care over to Wall Street is not going to cut it.
As we saw in 2016, the pale red Democrats are open to a nationalist appeal. But when they went for a border wall, they weren’t talking about Israel and Jordan. And when they went for draining the swamp, the were talking about the very Republicans who Trump endorsed and who spent the last four years stabbing him and his voters in the back.
Just imagine if Trump denounced McConnell BEFORE 2020, in the language he used last week, instead of from Mar a Lago. He’d still be President today.
As if fair elections can happen.

Not a chance. The surrender caucus wing of the GOP base would have stayed home in droves. That’s roughly 1/4 to 1/3 of GOP voters and Trump needs them to win. He would have lost legitimately instead of having the election stolen.
If you define "Conservative Republican" as Cheap Labor Express corporatist globalist goons then you'd be correct.
The surrender caucus as you put is at most 8% of the GOP. Trump had 92% approval among GOP voters. Are you even paying attention????
These senators maybe knowing the hammer will be falling. The steal is going south and the more evidence that comes out the more scapegoats and people involved are going down. Not sure, but usually they want to hold the seat forever. They step down and fade away before the trouble.
Good article.
“just bear in mind..that for DJT..MAGA is quite a bit different that conservative Republican.”
True, BUT his brand of politics is much closer to what we want and need than anyone else is proposing.
And we know he FIGHTS.
The GOPE snubbing him during his term and the dems robbing him of a second term may have been the worst mistakes both parties could have made.
He will spend the rest of his hopefully long life ripping them both a new one. Then there is Don Jr right beside him helping him with the ripping of new ones.
Pass the popcorn please.
If Trump would have got a kitten or puppy and cuddled/played with it ten different times on video, he would have easily won re-election.
He lost the shallowest, dumbest, sheepest potential republican voter - Educated white women.
If the Republican party thinks putting token women in power will win these voters over, while they court open borders corporations and the Military industrial complex, they are confused.
Putting Hot guys out front that like puppies/kittens is a way better strategy than the daughter of Darth Vader, but then republicans don’t really know how the world works, so its expected.
