UPDATE 3/9/21: Jeep has released a teaser photo of what looks to be a fully electric Jeep Wrangler concept. Called Magneto, this concept car will be revealed during the brand's Easter Jeep Safari, set to take place in Moab, Utah, from March 27 to April 4. It likely presages a production Wrangler EV that could arrive late this year or early in 2022.

The Wrangler EV is slowly appearing on the horizon, as Jeep has now confirmed that a concept version of this battery-powered SUV will arrive this spring. A teaser photo on the company’s new “The Road Ahead” minisite shows that this new spinoff won’t mess with the Wrangler’s iconoclastic look despite having an entirely different powertrain underneath. We’ll see the full concept this spring as part of the Easter Jeep Safari in late March or early April, and the production model could follow either late this year or early in 2022.

Nothing like having an off-road vehicle that can’t go off-road, because it can’t leave the city.

The better choice for serous off roaders would be the plug in version.

It has more torque and HP than every available gas or diesel version and even more than the planned 6.4 Hemi version as well. 50 mpg and 25 miles all electric which covers 90+% of most people’s daily driving remember you can always plug in at home for the night. Oh and 30” fording depth with real locker axles its no pavement queen. Electricity per mile at 7 cents per Kwh is like getting 70 cents per gallon gasoline in a cost per mile equal basis.

What happens when u plug it in. Takes 15 years to build a REAL power plant! How much would a charge cost in Texas when it gets cold? Maybe the cost of the vehicle.

These people think those wind mills are making the electricity, they are not! Results of an extremely poor education.

Good luck charging this thing in the middle of nowhere! Maybe take a gas powered Generator with u?

I think a hybrid is a better than EV.I think you can save about $10,000 in fuel over its lifetime.

The plug in hybrid 4 door 4x4 is 49,000 before tax credits I priced out a 2020 4 door wrangler 4x4 with locking axles and the fording kit it was 52K so jeep has brought the plug in hybrid to a price point even to its premium package and the plug in has more HP and torque over any of the gas or diesel versions. I would want 50 miles of all EV range that would mean every trip I take on a regular basis is all electric except weekend travel to the hunting lease or the gulf coast for fishing both of those are 5 times a year or less so 99.9% of where I go would be charged off the solar panels on my roof which already paid for themselves buy back feeding the gird the surplus power during the days.

I just drove a JW with the ASS. So, When at a stop light and the engine stops, so does the heat. It blows cold air. At that point, I either turned off the heater or slightly lifted my foot on the break to restart the engine. It was a little strange.

That I didn’t know about. When I drove one, it just quit at every light until I pressed the gas pedal.

That’s why I think hybrids are the way to go. 90% of all people would be using just electric vehicles and they’d have the assurance of gas performance when they need it.

I plan to get an electric bicycle.

GM and others are betting on all electric.

Toyota is betting on plug-in hybrids as the stepping stone in the US.

In the EU, fully electric is being mandated by gov’t....who is also paying to build millions of charging stations.

I am sure the Democrats will do that here eventually as well.

But, the smart move is PHEV

It’s mandated, because there are monied interests at the root. When oil is denied sufficiently, it will be sold to them and it will become the miracle fuel again.

That looks fun! I have a lol 49cc vino Scooter which I need to sell. I have osteoporosis and can’t take those chances any longer.

How I ended up with the Jeep is while my car is being worked on, I got a rental. I asked for a small SUV. They gave me the number the the spot where I’d find the vehicle. And there it was - a full size, brand new red Jeep Cherokee. The big one. While many may like this. I did not. I’m a small gal and wasn’t comfortable with that monstrosity. I ended up exchanging it for something smaller after a couple of days.

Everyone in the house got a kick out of seeing me come home with it tho.
