On Monday, Republicans in the New York State Assembly announced an impeachment resolution against Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D), saying the governor has lost “credibility and trust” and has therefore lost the ability to lead the state during the COVID-19 pandemic. While Republicans only have a minority in both the New York State Assembly and New York State Senate, many Democrats have demanded Cuomo’s resignation, and the governor has refused to step down.
“We’re going to introduce this resolution because we believe the time has come,” State Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay said in a press conference on Monday. “In order to lead this great state as governor, you need to have credibility and trust … and unfortunately, we feel the governor has lost that and now has an inability to lead.”
“I don’t think I’ve used the term ‘bombshell’ especially this week, any time more in my life, it has been one bombshell after another,” Barclay said, referencing the many scandals Cuomo has faced in the past few weeks.
“We had the AG report come out saying that the governor was underreporting nursing home deaths by as much as 50%,” Barclay said. “We had that secret political meeting where he had his top aides say they weren’t reporting the nursing home deaths because they were worried about a Department of Justice investigation—they were worried about the political fallout.”
Barclay referenced “the bullying and the harassing of sitting members of the state legislature. Then we had five courageous women come forward to talk about their abuse, sexual harassment, and other abuse at the hands of the governor.”
“As you heard the governor say yesterday, I’m not going to resign, if you want to get rid of me, start impeachment,” Barclay said, referencing the governor’s remarks to Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins

Meh. Leave him alone, NY’ers deserve him.
Lookie here - New York State Assembly
Democrats: 105
Independent: 1
Republicans: 43
With these numbers, What are the chances of this impeachment going through?
New York State Senate: 63 members
Democrats: 43
Republicans: 20
What are the chances of Cuomo being removed from office with these numbers?
Exactly, there’s nothing about this snake they didn’t already know a year ago. But the media used him as the “Anti-Trump”.
He is being impeached because he harassed aides and doctored the numbers of deaths on a CDC report. He’s not being impeached for killing 14k in nursing homes due to his policy. That’s disgraceful.
“Exactly, there’s nothing about this snake they didn’t already know a year ago. But the media used him as the “Anti-Trump”.”
That actually worked. I have an older neighbor, who is a good man, a friend, and mostly conservative. One day before the election he told me he wished Trump was presidential like Cuomo. I have seen my neighbor lately, but when I do, we’ll have a laugh about that one.
Theater. Typical shiny object scenario democrats...umm, politicians...are so good at. Trying to get him outta dodge before the nursing home scandal guts him.
They were literally begging him to run for President.
Where was all that energetic surge for justice and respect for the law when our country was stolen?
It’s interesting just WHAT and WHEN these ‘Republicans’ choose to recognize the ‘laws’ and draw the line !
The head line says the republicans have filed for impeachment but in the story it says they are going to file. Just like Barr was going to get at deep state corruption. Until it happens, it hasn’t happened.
Nothing would make me feel that justice has been served than seeing Cuomo forcefully removed from office in disgrace followed by decades in prison. He will never be charged for his reign of terror and decades of criminal activity but a long jail sentence should cover the missed items.
Cuomo reiterated yesterday that he is not going to resign.
He knows they can go through the motions of impeachment and nothing will happen, he won’t be removed from office.
I’m sure he’ll be re-elected again as well.
“With these numbers, What are the chances of this impeachment going through?”
Probably, not as bad as you might think. Cuomo has become toxic to the Democratic brand. Not because of the sex scandal, as he’s a Democrat, after all. But the potential genocide accusations that will arise and tar all Democrats, are like leaving an unexploded bomb on the living room table. You can surround it with potted plants, but it is still there.
The probable reason why Cuomo sent infected people into the place where they would do the most damage, instead of to the hospital ships and emergency hospital Trump set up, is to lower the budget costs of having those people in state care. The way it works is, those people turned over their entire possessions to the state in exchange for state care. The state then uses and actuarial table to charge their assets for their care. A former boss of mine had two relatives in New York’s state care. They both went in with several million dollars in assets. When they died they both had exactly $50 left. The reason I suspect this is, New York also released hundreds of prisoners. If masks worked, as they said they would, they’d have simply given them all masks. But it costs thousands of dollars to maintain each inmate. Those costs suddenly vanished, to the great advantage of New York’s budget. I think Cuomo saw the pandemic as the answer to all his budget problems. Notice that
That is what the Democrats are afraid will surface and destroy them all. Thus, a lot of Democrats will probably vote to impeach him. Don’t believe this is even possible? Here’s a quote from Ezekiel Emanuel, one of Obama care’s architects. Essentially, “No medical help for anyone older than 75.”
Leave him alone because there’s even worse waiting to replace him? DeBlasio, or Letitia James, for example
—”The way it works is, those people turned over their entire possessions to the state in exchange for state care. “
Thanks
RE: DeBlasio, or Letitia James, for example
Leticia James is the AG who is investigating Cuomo. The investigator becomes the replacement?
‘Leave him alone, NY’ers deserve him.’
I would agree but this is not over a blo job. People died that didn’t’t have to.
RE: I would agree but this is not over a blo job.
I don’t think there ever was one...
Not an unheard of motivation.
And DeBlasio may partly be dumping on Cuomo because he doesn't like him, but I'd say ambition plays a part. The Dem Party as a whole climbs on the backs of the producers, but within that Party, they are continually striving to achieve a higher rank. Typical of Party-run states.
They won’t impeach him for the nursing home scandal.
The entire damn legislature knew what was going on.
AND DID NOTHING.
