The slew of Senate Republican retirements prove who's in charge of the GOP now (CNN squeals!)

Missouri Sen. Roy Blunt's surprise retirement announcement Monday adds his name to a growing list of GOP establishment politicians who no longer recognize the party they represent and have decided to walk away rather than face the peril of losing their career at the hands of a Donald Trump-inspired base that views them a insufficiently loyal to the cause.

To date, five Republicans senators -- Blunt, Richard Shelby (Alabama), Richard Burr (North Carolina), Pat Toomey (Pennsylvania) and Rob Portman (Ohio) -- have all announced that they will not seek another term next November. It's not a coincidence that all five are considered remnants of the Republican Party of George W. Bush and have struggled to adjust to the new Trump-led GOP.

"The rash of GOP retirements, likely to avoid Trump madness in the primaries, shows you Trump still isn't done destroying the party," tweeted conservative commentator (and CNN contributor) Amanda Carpenter after Blunt's retirement announcement. "Onwards we go."

The trend is hard to dispute.

Blunt, prior to Monday morning, was not seen as someone even considering not running again. He had spent a lifetime in politics -- including a stint in House leadership -- and is a close ally of Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell (Kentucky). And with the Republican trend in Missouri, Blunt's path in a general election in 2020 is probably clearer than in either of his past two Senate bids.

But Blunt isn't a Trumper. In the wake of the January 6 US Capitol riot, Blunt said that Trump had been "clearly reckless" although he insisted, wrongly in retrospect, that "the President touched the hot stove on Wednesday and is unlikely to touch it again."

Rove, who knew the head of the Lincoln Project was a guy pedophile and looked the other way probably because he supported W Bush, the useless President.

We may look at it like that but I would suggest another motive. These c’sers know the iron boot of communism is about to drop and they are fleeing to go prepare and protect ‘their’ families and fortunes. Just another possibility imho

conservative commentator (and CNN contributor) Amanda Carpenter ...

Yeah, right. And Dan Blather was a responsible conservative news anchor too.

No. They are “retiring” just at the point of seniority where it is THEY who chair the committees they have been sitting on for 30 years.

Don’t disagree. But nowadays it ain’t as easy to be that corrupt. Back in the day they didn’t have FOIA, digital records, whistleblowers, IGs, etc.

Are any of those elixirs but it’s bit it’s a bit more difficult to do things now then they did back in the day.

No easy answer but I’d rather Georgia legislators pick 2 Republicans than have every Leftist in the country doing what they can to get the two clowns in the senate that we have now.

Which is what just happened in Georgia. That was one piece of the puzzle that Abrams was able to put together to get those two morons in DC.

All you Freepers who reside in these states and who dumped their Republican party membership should reconsider. Trump can’t advance MAGA candidates without primary votes!!

WORTH REPEATING

Blunt spent a lifetime in politics --

One of the most pathetic statements ever. Dude refused to go out and make a living under the rules he created.

Allow me to translate. Blunt is a corporate shill, country club, cheese eating surrender monkey RINO who was fully complicit in the steal. He was going to get his ass thoroughly whipped in the next election and he knew it. So he is ducking out to avoid the humiliating defeat that was sure to come.

Let more RINO’s take the coward’s way out and just retire. After all, its what they do best.

I hope I have the pleasure of voting for Lara Trump for that Senate seat in NC. If not her, Mark Meadows would make an excellent candidate.

In what universe is Amanda Carpenter a conservative?

The one where David Brooks and Jennifer Rubin are fellow conservatives with her in the media, John McCain, Mitch McConnell, Liz Cheney, and Paul Ryan are giants in the history of Republican Congressional leadership, and Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump are failed Presidents. That universe.

All dead weight.

Good riddance to all these establishment hacks.

Their fundraising must have dropped through the floor. Once the Uniparty proved they could rig an election in broad daylight with impunity, they also proved they don’t need donations because they can make votes any way they want. Who would donate in a rigged election?

We have never been in this good a position to push the RINOs out of the party or at least out of the main positions. We’ve never had somebody on our side before fighting this battle with us like Trump. And we’ve never had so much anger from the base against them.

A lot of RINOs are “self-deporting,” and we are in a good position to primary a lot more. That’s why it’s disheartening to see a lot of people on our side who want to give up the fight now. We still have a huge struggle ahead of us, but this is not the same losing game we tried to play in the past against the RINOs unless we screw things up now and in the next few years. We’ll always have some RINOs in our midst (even in a third party we would), but we can take over the dominant position in the party and relegate them to the side like they did us for many years.

A good proposed reason for all of this happening, now, here...

The Big Ugly Continues, Another DeceptiCon Taps Out – Senator Roy Blunt Will Not Seek Re-election, Further Evidence Mitch McConnell Will Exit Soon
March 8, 2021

The reality of the group known as the “Senate DeceptiCons” {Go Deep 2014} all now exiting, showcases their internal knowledge about how much the electorate is awake to their decades long schemes and machinations. These continued announcements are also predictive that Mitch McConnell is soon to leave the upper chamber.

Hold on to your political hat’s folks, this is going to get bigger and uglier as the power of the MAGA community and President Trump start to influence change.

The number of republican senators not running for reelection just gained another name today. Senators Richard Burr (NC), Ron Johnson (WI), Pat Toomey (PA), Rob Portman (OH), and Richard Shelby all previously stated they were not going to seek reelection; now Senator Roy Blunt makes the same announcement.

They know the American electorate can see both wings of the UniParty vulture now.

WASHINGTON DC – Sen. Roy Blunt of Missouri announced on Monday that he will not run for reelection in 2022, a surprise decision from the No. 4 GOP leader that comes amid a slew of retirements from top Senate Republicans.

Blunt, who was first elected to the Senate in 2010 and previously served for 14 years in the House, is the fifth Republican this cycle to announce his retirement. His decision is certain to set off a messy GOP primary in a state where former President Donald Trump remains popular.

“After 14 general election victories — three to county office, seven to the United States House of Representatives, and four statewide elections — I won’t be a candidate for reelection to the United States Senate next year,” Blunt said in a video message announcing his retirement. (read more)

In the 2022 Senate races there are 34 seats up for grabs. 14 are held by Democrats and 20 are held by tenuous Republicans. [Breakdown Here] Due to vulnerability, their lack of support amid the republican base, and their insufferable 2020 behavior outing them as DeceptiCons, it is almost guaranteed the GOP will lose seats in the 2022 mid-term election…. UNLESS President Trump leads the MAGA coalition to victory with new faces.

Current Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has a leadership group who carry out the institutional objectives of the upper chamber as a body, they include: Senator John Thune (whip); Senator John Barrasso (conference chair); Roy Blunt (committee chair); Todd Young (NRSC chair); Jodi Ernst (conference vice-chair); and Chuck Grassley (president pro tempore). None of these senators make a move publicly without approval from Leader McConnell.

Things amid the DeceptiCon caucus are getting very interesting.

The Shameful Seven are almost all GONE!

Another downstream note…. a dot that few will pay attention to… a subtle variable for those traveling the deep weeds…. this announcement portends the DecptiCon caucus knows the Senate Filibuster is about to be eliminated.
