FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Goodbye, sunshine. Hello, study sessions.

Colleges around the U.S. are scaling back spring break or canceling it entirely to discourage partying that could spread the virus and raise infection rates back on campus.

Texas A&M University opted for a three-day weekend instead of a whole week off. The University of Alabama and the University of Wisconsin-Madison also did away with spring break but are giving students a day off later in the semester.

Even some students who have the time to get away aren’t in the mood. Michigan Tech’s weeklong break began Friday, but 21-year-old Justin Martin decided to visit family in Michigan instead of making that epic senior-year trip to Florida he once envisioned.

Hey when you have numbers in the .04% range of fatalities, you gotta do something. With a survival rate of a mere 99.6% we must do more. Like wearing 5 masks and having small fans mounted to your head to blow the virus away from you.

It wasn't killed by Covid, it was killed by their tyrannical government.

Many colleges have dictated “Masks Required everywhere on campus at all times” enforced by disciplinary action up to an including expulsion.

Kind of a big stick when you’ve paid thousands in tuition.

Everybody has a price...

Sounds like the Tiki Bars will be the hardest hit by the threat of Covid resurgence in Fort Lauderdale.

The fact that colleges have scaled back spring break periods is old news. My daughter attends a Big 10 school, here in the Mid West, and they knew in the fall, that there would be no traditional spring break.

Instead, they are replacing the normal week off with "Reading Days," about one per month.

We live in Fort Lauderdale and I can tell you it’s madhouse down here. It’s not just college kids but adults. Most Canadians aren’t here this year so it must be escapees from NY, NJ and PA. If you don’t have a reservation you can forget getting into most restaurants.

Cowards do not deserve to have fun. They deserve to watch (and of course hate) those who are not paralyzed with fear and ignorance enjoy life.

A spring breaker has a bigger chance of dying from alcohol poisoning than COVID.

Why do schools that haven’t been fully open or functional need “breaks”?
