Police in northern India said on Thursday (March 4) they had arrested a man who beheaded his daughter and carried her severed head to the village police station, a case that spurred calls for a new law against so-called honour killings.
The man told police he had attacked his 17-year-old daughter with an axe on Wednesday (March 3) in anger over her relationship with a man.
“He said he saw his daughter in a compromising position with a man and he beheaded her in a fit of rage,” Anurag Vats, police superintendent of Hardoi district in northern Uttar Pradesh state, said.

It’s murder plain and simple and should be punished as such.
Creating a new class of murder (Honour killing) will only result in lesser punishment for the guilty - a sort of crime of passion - will be argued in Court.
Are honor killings confined just to Muslim Indians, or do Hindu Indians and other Indian sects also do this?
This reminds me of the British ending suttee in India, the practice of the widow being immolated on her husband’s funeral pyre. The British governor of one of the Indian states, Charles Napier, is said to have had this to say about an upcoming suttee event:
“Be it so. This burning of widows is your custom; prepare the funeral pile. But my nation has also a custom. When men burn women alive we hang them, and confiscate all their property. My carpenters shall therefore erect gibbets on which to hang all concerned when the widow is consumed. Let us all act according to national customs!”
Therafter, the account goes, no suttee took place.
That was Hindus. The honor killing does sound more like Muslims.

All cultures are equal, except Western culture which is evil, dontchaknow.
They’ll accept anything that opposes Christianity.
And we continue to invite them here on work visas by the planeload (hundreds of thousands per year, with full support of business and the Uniparty) while Americans are forced to take minimum wage subsistence jobs.
Like many such traditions, this tradition survived Islamic terror (about 8 centuries of it). This particular one was finally stopped by the British.
Right; they have nothing in common culturally with Americans. They, like the imported ChiComs, are a great way to erase the wASP culture here.
