It’s not just that the consumer isn’t there, the logistics aren’t there. Not enough range for much of the country, takes too long to re-charge vs. 5 minutes to fill a gas tank, not enough places to re-charge because you can’t get in and out like a gas station so you end up with long lines. More EV propaganda.

Until you can get an EV to recharge the battery in 5 minutes or less, I fail to see how this is a "superior technology" over the internal combustion engine.

Eloithink - clashing with reality since 1960.

This too-early EV push will be a disaster. Not enough generating capacity (build nukes!), not enough transmission and distribution infrastructure. And they’re not suitable for a cold winter storm in the upper Midwest / Dakotas / Idaho / etc.

Follow the supply chain up to the cobalt mines....

Can't drill for oil, though. It's a dirty fossil fuel...

“. Not enough range for much of the country, “

Most don’t drive 500 miles in a day.

” takes too long to re-charge vs. 5 minutes to fill a gas tank,’

Who can go 500 miles without a rest break? Recharging in 20 minutes gives you time to go take a leak.

“not enough places to re-charge because you can’t get in and out like a gas station so you end up with long lines”

Every house is a charging station. Already, gas stations are installing charging stations.

The Model-T was in production 4 years before the first service station was built!

I think you will be surprised just how great EV’s are to drive. They don’t make sense for everyone but will be better accepted in a few years.

Not enough range?

Most of them can easily do 36 holes.

Oh come on, 30 to 60 minutes waiting for a Super Charger to full charge your electric car is great. Of course that is only if you have the correct connection or adapter.......... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

1 gallon of gasoline = 32KW of kinetic energy

30 mpg at 30mph = 32KW of energy needed to drive to work and back 15 miles each way

276 million cars in USA

32x10**3 times 276x10**6 = 8,832x10**9 KW of energy needed per day in USA, or 8.8 Terawatts (Trillion watts) of new electrical power needed

We assume this is additional electrical energy needed beyond the daily lights & heat we use today

A 1 square mile Nuke Plant can generate 1,167 Megawatts 1,167x10**6 or 1.2x10**9

That means we need (8,832x10**9 divided by 1,167x10**6 divided by 24 hours a day to charge all these cars) or 7.568x10**3 or 31,534 new Nuke Power plants at 1 square mile each of ~32,000 square miles of space.

The USA is 3.797 Million square miles so we need .8% of the total land in the USA to build 760,000 new nuke power plants.

So who wants 32,000 Nuke Plants in their backyard?

I assume that per square mile Nuke plant is the most efficient way to go versus a wind farm.

Not enough power plant capacity to service all those cars, either.

That’s the point...they don’t want you to drive long distances because we Neanderthals are killing the planet!/s

They can take my gas-powered vehicle from me when they can peel my cold dead hands from the steering wheel.

Exactly they are and always be a niche commuter vehicle.

Until you can go 300 (minimal) miles on a charge and recharge fully in 5-10 minutes EV’s are a non starter.

Commuter vehicle, or status symbol for upper class.

When you can afford 1 vehicle it has to fit all your needs not just your daily commuting needs... for most of America they can’t fill those needs
