If DJT didn’t have Ryan and McConnell working for our enemies the wall would have been built in less than a year.

True enough. He not only had to battle the MSM and the Democrats, he had to fight his own party.

A person of lesser character would have crumbled under the pressure.

“If DJT didn’t have Ryan and McConnell working for our enemies the wall would have been built in less than a year.”

You can blame George W. Bush for the absence of an effective border wall. In 2006, Congress passed the Secure Fence Act which provided for 700 miles two layer border fencing to be constructed. The Bush administration determined “low level pedestrian fencing” and “virtual fencing” (cameras and sensors) would suffice instead of the high heavy duty fencing Trump was attempting to construct a decade later. However, Bush in his first term was trying to work another amnesty deal, not increase border security. In his second term he chose to be reactive, not proactive and when Congress finally passed the Secure Fencing Act, he chose a token fence, supplemented by electronic devices to detect intrusion, instead of a secure wall designed to prevent entry.

Imagine if Bush had installed 700 miles of secure barrier. Trump could have devoted his efforts to adding to an existing barrier and doing repairs and upgrades to the existing structure where needed.

The Bush virtual fence turned out to boondoggle to Boeing that cost billions of dollars, was plagued with cost overruns, was ineffective and was ultimately scrapped by the Obama administration.

The border is not securely protected because the politicians of both parties, charities receiving billions for the care of “immigrants”, and large corporations do not want a secure border. If a few thousand citizens die every year as a result from drug trafficking, murders, and sex trafficking, so be it.
