In ancient Greece, they warned that excessive pride and arrogance will without fail lead to punishment. In ancient Rome, slaves rode behind conquerors whispering in their ears “memento mori” -- you are mortal -- meaning that both fame and you die. You need not go that far back in time to see the truth of these warnings. Just consider the rise and fall of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. In this case we can see why he rose to such fame. Why he’s being attacked right now has several explanations. As I detail, I think it’s because others with the same greed for power and fame in his own ranks are vying for the same unearned glory he once held.
Bring out Your Dying
As many as 15,000 virus deaths have now been attributed to Cuomo’s March 25, 2020 policy of forcing the admission of patients who had tested positive for the China virus into nursing homes which held the most vulnerable to the virus. The policy made no sense except as a payoff to the Greater NY Hospital Association, a major donor, (nearly $1 million in support of his 2018 election) which found the COVID patients unprofitable and wanted to make room for more lucrative patients.
Tracing the donations shows that GNYHA affiliates gave over $900K directly to Cuomo’s campaign. In total, Cuomo and the NYS democratic party committee (which he controlled) received close to $2.3m from various hospitals and nursing home donors.
He paid the donors off in another way, too. Legislation which he signed on April 2, 2020 shielded the hospital and nursing home executives from any lawsuits respecting the China virus outbreak in their institutions.

Regarding Covid lawsuits........ any lawyer bringing such a suit or defending one should be stood against a wall and shot.

Early on, there was a NY problem perceived with a dearth of hospital rooms for covid patients. the nursing homes and extended care facilities were perceived as rooms in a health care facility with good care available.
President Trump provided rooms. Accepting his rooms was not politically acceptable when rooms were available in the nursing homes.
At the time, it was not so well known that old folks were much more likely to die from Covid and covid related disease so all patients being equal, nursing homes had rooms.
I would suggest that panic resulting from ignorance and expediency produced the ruling. The governor did not make the ruling, he approved the ruling in total ignorance and downright stupidity
I just did a search and find out they fired him because of sexual assault.
What fall?
He’s still there.
Now NYS has a legislature full of dictators instead of just one.
And the diktats are still in force.

Here’s an INTERESTING article from a couple of years ago. Back then, Democrats in NYC couldn’t figure out why Governor Cuomo and his people resisted changing the definition of sexual harassment so as to require claims to meet a lower standard.
Now we know, they were PROTECTING HIM. Note also that the U-Line babe was also involved in that effort.

I would add that this is a classic example of how computer modeling can result in bad policies. NY followed the models that predicted a huge need for hospital rooms (and ventilators). Cuomo moved those to the nursing homes to clear the decks for this predicted surge of hospitalizations.
Some times ‘following the science’ results in poor outcomes.

They’re focusing on this aspect because there are 5 other Democrat Governors that did the same exact thing, it was done by design with intent
The request for 40,000 ventilators was the most ridiculous thing Cuomo did.There is no way you can get enough medical personnel to manage 40,000 patients on ventilators. Cuomo must have known that, his medical advisers would have told him.It was a way of throwing a task on Trump , and to complain to the media if Trump did not provide the ventilators. But, Trump was successful.

I disagree. In any disease setting, those who are elderly or immune compromised are ALWAYS the ones who face the direst outcomes. Trump opened the Javits Center, sent a hospital ship and made funds and equipment available to remedy the expected “run” on hospital beds, BUT THEY WEREN’T USED.
Judge Nap was using his influence to hit on men who came before his court. Or, so the accusations went.
