Prima Facie argument #1 - the “covid releif bill” ultimately slashed aid from planned $400 a week to $300 a week, without cutting the spending size of the bill at all.
The Democrats had been bitching about passing major relief bill since last summer. Trump said “let’s do it, let’s go big or go home”. I know he had some resistance from the GOP including rank and file but he could have pushed it through as as simple relief bill for those who need it IF the Democrats were really sincere. They aren’t and weren’t. They really almost never are.
All they accomplished was to give away $1.9 trillion of taxpayer money, while keeping the same $300 aid that Trump was able to give using discretionary/excess funds from the previous bill(s). They did nothing, really, “for the people” that the people weren’t already getting.
Covid didn't crush the economy. Government did.
