Are the palm trees native to southern Florida? If so, then the “climate freaks” are going against the green lovers hate of ‘invasive species.’

No I think they were all imported. At least all those tall pretty ones. Scrub palm is native but only grow 2-3 feet tall. There are some larger native palms that get 20-30 foot maybe. There’s guys that will go out into the swampy woods and dig them up to sell. They go for $100 ea and it takes all day to dig one out by hand. Mostly black guys doing it. This was 20 years ago. Not sure if they still do it or what the price might be for them today. When the fronds are trimmed, it leaves a 12 inch spike like thing sticking up and palmetto bugs aka super sized roaches live in them.
