County set to approve $100M in affordable housing projects (San Jose CA)

The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors will likely approve more than $100 million in permanent housing for low-income residents.

At their Tuesday meeting, supervisors will consider approving five housing complexes that would total to 566 new units and house roughly 2,100 people.

“This is our ‘all in’ program meaning we’re going to make sure we get our homeless community housed, and those who are also in high need of housing,” Chavez said in front of a potential site in Alum Rock on Monday.

The funding will come from a 2016 Measure A housing bond passed by voters authorizing the county to spend nearly $1 billion for affordable housing projects and other housing related incentives.

“By sticking to our plan and keeping our word to the voters, we know that we are going to be able to make sure we get folks housed,” Chavez said.

The Measure A goal is to build 4,800 affordable units by 2028. So far, the county has built 174 homes, or 3 percent of the county’s goals.

I believe this is what President Trump kept mentioning in his rallies...

They will build these low income units and stick them in ‘family neighborhoods’....
....not wealthy neighborhoods, mind you

,...but middle class neighborhoods to assimilate your kids with.......theirs
....and ‘theirs’ could mean anything from gang types to illegals

This one is in San Jose, Calfornia
But what happens in California eventually appears in every state, every town if no one stops it

That is an average of almost 4 people per housing unit. Much less density than the Hotel De La Coucharacha units I see driving around the town I live in. Hope there are enough parking spaces planned.

What. They think that number will stay at 2,100?

Low income housing lowers values across the board. This is the intention of course. “Affordable housing” gives it that “it’s a necessity” sound. Hard to argue with a lib about it as they say...”oh. So you want more unaffordable housing”? Same with, “so black lives don’t matter? Is that what you’re saying?”

It’s the only way they can argue. Shut you down right off the bat.

“They will build these low income units and stick them in ‘family neighborhoods’....

My dentist’s office in Tallahassee was in one of the nicest neighborhoods with top-end apartments at one end of the road and light industry and lots of shopping at the other. Everything is in walking distance. The government put Section 8 renters in some of the apartments. Now, the two women in his office have to empty the trash together. One of them holds a gun at the ready while the other empties the trash. The dentist wears a gun on his belt while he operates. Why? Extremely stoned men all over the place. Some of them are yelling and I saw a guy throwing punches at an imaginary attacker. When I told the dentist he said, “yeah. That happens often.”

There are Brazilian natives called the Yanomomo. The Brazilian government warns people not to approach them as, if they want your shirt, they will kill you for it. In my local Walmart, there were two men, about a skoosh over four feet tall, who, minus the red mud, looked just like them. They were wearing brand spanking new shoes and clothing still creased from the package. They were attempting to speak to a clerk and obviously frustrated as they could not make themselves understood. I stood close by, watching. After they stormed off, the clerk said, you know, I speak good Spanish. I have no idea what they said or wanted. If, as I suspect, the government has deposited them locally, just imagine how they will add to the diversity of the local populace. I wonder what jobs they are going to take.

If I was a mayor of city in a Midwest or Southern state, I would buy bus tickets and provide say $100 to transfer any local homeless to a community which had the resources to offer such assistance to the homeless. It would be a humanitarian policy to makes sure any local homeless would have access to the best programs which unfortunately my city would be unable to provide.

“They speak Portuguese in Brazil”

I will wager money that the percentage of people in my little rural community who speak a second language...any language, hovers in the low single digits.
