I’m willing to bet the standards for femininity are much higher in Indian than they are in the West today. Here it’s often hard to tell the men from the women, but I’ll bet it’s obvious in India. In the US, if a woman wants to braid her armpit hair, put a ring through her nose and tattoo herself up to her chin, no one is going blink an eyelash.

And the darier the hair color, the more body hair can potentialy stand out. Everybody has body hair, the lighter the hair, often the less visible/noticeable it is.

But i’ve never met one who wants a woman with facial hair.

My mom had black hair. She wasnt thrilled about hair on her arms, but I never really noticed it. It certainly doesnt approach looking like a guys arm hair so as a boy and man, it didnt really register.
