[What freeze? See 1st comment]

February 2021 may be warmer than average across much of the United States from the South to the Northeast, according to the latest outlook from The Weather Company, an IBM Business.

February's forecast shows far-above-average temperatures are possible across most of the Northeast, as well as the Southern Plains. Above-average temperatures are also expected..

In March, most of the nation's midsection may see far-above-average temperatures...April outlook temperatures look much the same, with perhaps a better chance of warmth farther east, including the Mississippi Valley and Southeast.

Comment: It seems that for years almost every NOAA and major media extended forecast is always that of warmer to much warmer temps overall, with colorful maps, but when they are shown to be wrong it is very hard to find such. I could find but one that showed national temps for Feb. (below) Of course, I do not like to admit my errors either, but while the MSM blames Texas for not being prepared, if they believed the forecasts then why would they prepare for just the opposite?

February 2021 (4.99F below normal) was the coldest February since 1989 (6.22F below normal) Cold face . March will thankfully be a different story. George Delanjian @weather_chest -

If it’s cold, that’s just weather, if it’s warm, that’s climate change, we’re all going to die!

The weather simply cannot be predicted with any reliability whatsoever beyond 7 days. That's why no reputable weather forecaster (and there are a few) ever go beyond a basic 7-day forecast.

Even within that 7 day window, they are significantly wrong about 20-30% of the time.

That's why the global warming nuts are not to be taken seriously. They are charlatans, looking to stoke fear and take your money and freedom.

We just had the cold, cold, cold month of February 2021.

This is editorializing.

So if we average the cold in February with the warmth in March we get an average temperature range?
Averages work that way, don’t they?

I think it is a good thing if the climate is warming a couple degrees. It would result in more and better lives, other aspects being equal.

Well it's finally March in New England. In like a lion - 40 mph winds and temps will remain well below freezing. Next week. Sunny and in the 60's. Very lamb like.

Just like every NE March.

Witch doctors and shamans have a better record of long term weather forecasting than the “scientists”.

Some years ago, I went to a lecture at the Boston Museum of Science by representatives of the National Weather Service where they said that within five years, they would be able to predict weather down to the city block size level up to weeks in advance.

When I heard that, I think I openly guffawed with skepticism.

That was something like 20 or 25 years ago now, I think.

What rubbish. Bill Belichick had it right in his criticism of weather forecasts.

February 2021 was the coldest February in my 18 years in north central Florida.

I live in NH and my electricity is billed through Eversource. Eversource provides the average monthly temperature on their bills. According to Eversource, the average temp here for Feb 2021 is 26 deg F, five degrees colder than Feb 2020 (31 deg F).

If it gets any hotter, I’ll freeze to death! /s

*** If it’s cold, that’s just weather, if it’s warm, that’s climate change, we’re all going to die!***

Almost right.

If it’s cold, that’s global cooling, which is climate change. If it’s warm, it’s global warming, which is also climate change. The answer is, no matter the temps, the precipitation, or the winds, it’s always climate change!

And yes, we’re all going to die!!

The lower tropospheric NASA satellite data for the month of Feb. should be posted in the next day or two on Dr. Roy Spencer's website. We'll see how accurate that forecast proves out. The USA lower 48 is one of the regions with its own data point in the global data.

In Jan., the lower 48 was +.36 deg. C above the avg for the last 20 years . Globally, it was +.12 deg. C.

I’m not a subscriber to WeatherBell but I’ve followed Joe Bastardi since his AccuWeather days. He’s one of the good guys.

Amen.

I flew for 40 years. Multi-engine, instrument rated and well equipped aircraft.

I learned early on that if the forecast was accurate enough to complete a flight...be happy and don’t bitch.

I aged out 20 years ago and forecasts don’t appear to be any better than they were then.

About all one gets out of the new equipment is a better look at what is going on at the moment.
