Despite CDC claims, properly handled raw beef isnt likely to be dangerous especially to otherwise healthy young adults. Mishandled and/or contaminated factory ground and unseared/half warm beef is an altogether different discussion and someone should swing from a lamppost.

Once again, Pelosi insures that nothing is too good for the Army National Guard troops guarding the Capitol Building.
Once again contractor provided meals appears to be the problem. I’m guessing that in the initial rush, only the troops were deployed to DC, without any of their support equipment such as their mess sections and its equipment so Army cooks could have done the cooking and provided proper chow to the troops.
And I’m guessing that NO ONE has had the idea to mobilize the DC, VA, & MD ARNG unit mess sections to provide the troops “Hot A” rations. But then, Nancy probably considers cooking food for the troops on Army Stoves outside the capitol building would cause air pollution.
Who is preparing these meals and where is the food originating from?

If they were serious, they’d pay a surprise visit to the commissary. This is giving them time to clean it up for the visit, and then letting the food go to hell again after they’re gone.

You don’t have these problems with MRE’s.. Well I haven’t anyway.
There are plenty of military bases right outside of DC that can provide sleep quarters and meals for our deployed military. If need be they can provide the very large tents that can house a lot of soldiers. Surely Andrews AFB, along with the other military bases have at bare minimum large expanses of lawns. The military can fly them in on helicopter if they have do, since there cannot too many people coming into Reagan airport due to COVID.
In this unique deployment situation....they wanted only ‘guards’ and not the support structure that would normally come with them (chow hall, medical staff, tent-city, etc).
So they ended up in hotel rooms (special gov’t rates), and meals contracted out via local catering. So you could get a plain juice, a coffee and a large breakfast roll for $8.50 (that’s standard pricing in the DC/Arlington region).
I’d readily admit this is a marginally-planned deployment and reminds me of a number of 1980s NG deployments where they trucked guys in and pretended that they were accomplishing something important (for the cameras).
If Gretchen was smart, she would have pulled the troops out of DC after they made them sleep in a parking garage.
