Is there a moral difference between the discredited establishment Republican Party and the NRA?
If not for the NRA, we’d still have an assault weapons ban from 1994. If not for the NRA, the election of President Trump in 2016 would not have been as easy (see Democrat complaints about $30 million donated to campaign). The NRA has done many other things for us.
It’s good to have other, far smaller organizations trying, but none of them have done nearly as much over the past 20 years or so. We’ve gained more respect and freedom by far than in the past, when it was illegal for most people to carry concealed weapons. The NRA has worked in every state to make that and much more happen.
CEOs are paid enormous sums of money, especially in banking. The reason given by the boards of those companies, is that they cannot get anyone else with as much experience. The NRA has done far more than they have and against larger foes. We need the NRA strategists and “greedy lobbyists.”
Democrats want more than anything else to see the NRA shut down. That’s obvious to all of us in the U.S.
And as for “the discredited establishment Republican Party,” the CPAC straw poll went overwhelmingly in favor of Donald Trump.
