Crowds burn portraits of Meena Harris, niece of US Vice President Kamala Harris (right image), and Greta Thunberg in New Delhi, India, February 4.
When American author Meena Harris tweeted criticism of the Indian state's clampdown on farmers protesting agricultural reforms, nationalist counter-protesters responded by burning her portrait. Hundreds of Indians barraged her with abuse on Twitter, telling her to stay out of their country's affairs.
Harris -- who is the niece of US Vice President Kamala Harris and is also of Indian descent -- rejected the idea that the 18 million people who make up the Indian diaspora had no place in expressing opinions on the country. In the US alone, 4.8 million people are either Indian migrants or report Indian heritage.
"Don't tell me to stay out of your affairs," Harris wrote earlier this month on Twitter. "These are all of our issues."
Harris also tweeted a photo of counter-protesters setting her image ablaze. "Weird to see a photo of yourself burned by an extremist mob but imagine what they would do if we lived in India," she wrote.

Almost everybody has leftist relatives. I have some leftist relatives whom I avoid like the plague. I have a leftist sister who likes to make speeches at family events. She went off on a rant about white males and school shootings at Thanksgiving two years ago. I did not say a word. I promised myself that I am not taking anymore of her sh*t. I blocked her phone number and her e-mail address. Her last phone message was “I cannot remember the last time that I saw you.”
I remember the last time that I saw her and that is why I have gone radio silent. I have plenty of other friends and relatives whose company I enjoy. Life is too short. Do not waste time with nasty people.
I thought we weren’t supposed to call them “Indians” any longer. Trying to be Woke is very confusing.
I have no clue what this is about and can’t even finish the article, phone issues. And, likely the author’s bias would hide the real meaning. However, I worked with a large number of Israeli/Americans working here at three times what they could make at home. They vote here for every socialist on the ticket. If socialism took over their sweet deal of making lots more money here would vanish. They were either hypocrites or idiots. Either way I resented that they were voting here for something they would not be living under. Same thing for the Indians. They left India. Now they are trying to force policies they will not be effected by.

I havent even spoken to my brother in years. He’s a pro-union, anti American asshole. Some cousins who are pro Biden complete with car sticker. I have my share too, and the “pact” is: dont talk to me, I dont talk to you. I would prefer to spend Thanksgiving at a strip club than spend time with some of my relatives.
I have a friend who wants gun control because of all the school shootings by white boys that commit. I told her since there are 80-100 million gun owners who never killed anyone, is to look at the group of white boys that do this. I pointed out most of them are the sons of democrat mothers. We should disallow democrat women from raising white boys. They should be put up for adoption at birth, because to many democrat women raise socio-paths. She didn’t like that as she has 2 sons who never shot up a school. But if it just saves one life...
I think most of them must live in DFW.
