Israel's fastest-in-the world vaccine campaign, which reached half its citizens as of Sunday, is offering other countries the first real-life look at how mass inoculation can bend the trajectory of the coronavirus pandemic...
Israeli medical research... reveals that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is even more effective than hoped at preventing serious disease and death, safe for nearly all adults, and almost completely free of serious side effects.
Israel’s scientific results have allowed health officials to open the inoculation program to pregnant women and nursing mothers, while the findings also showed that it was safe for those with food allergies and autoimmune diseases.
And the vaccine has proved so good at protecting the elderly, who are especially vulnerable, that hospital administrators here say it has all but eliminated the risk that covid-19 cases would collapse their critical care systems. Almost 90 percent of Israelis over 50 have been fully vaccinated... fewer elderly people are flooding into the covid wards.
“That is the most important finding in Israel so far — that when it comes to protecting the health-care system, the vaccine is winning,” said Ronni Gamzu, Israel’s former coronavirus “czar”...
The number of covid patients in his facility has declined by two-thirds in two months, Gamzu said. “You may still have a high infection rate, but once you vaccinate 90 percent of people over 50, you are abolishing the real threat of the epidemic,” he said.
Another major study... showed a 93 percent plunge in serious covid disease and death among the vaccinated.
The study, yet to be peer-reviewed, also reported that inoculation cut transmission of the virus by 90 percent, a finding hailed by many scientists as a vital pathway to herd immunity.

Don’t say that too loudly; the anti-vaccine crusaders will hear you and explain how President Trump was just a powerless pawn who had no choice but to throw the entire weight of the Federal government behind a program he designed and carried out himself to created vaccines he publicly praised as “safe and effective”, but privately knew to be poison and toxic.
The mental gymnastics required to come up with a new reality where President Trump wasn’t all for these vaccines would win gold at any Olympic Games on Earth.

Probably most of those people (the 90% over 50) were only just vaccinated over those last two months, so the full effects have not yet been realized.

This will appeal to the front line RN/EMTs/MDs and other hospital staff members who may have a symptomatic personal case and might only want one dose.
I’d be fine with a J&J shot myself. They measure effectiveness at day 28, but I believe that it likely will improve after the point as well.
I kind of expect some additional boosters, or reformulated vaccines (for the variants) to be available in the Fall, before the next Cold & Flu season. Some folks have already started talking about that prospect, including old Dr. Fauci (who seems to never shut up - probably keeps talking in his sleep).

They do work. The data is overwhelming (see today’s WaPo article that this thread is about). Cases are dropping, COVID hospital wards are emptying.
The link that you provided, focused on one man’s opinion (Eran Segal), that lockdowns should remain in place, while vaccination continues - as reported by one other guy on twitter.
Contrast that single (second hand) political opinion, with the literally millions of vaccinated people rigorously scientifically studied in the Israeli vaccination program, published in peer-reviewed scientific and medical journals.
The point of these multiple massive studies is that the Pfizer vaccine DOES work. Spectacularly.
It reduces infections by an order of magnitude. It reduces fatalities by an order of magnitude. It reduces transmission by an order of magnitude.
The data is in. It is only going to grow increasingly, glaring obvious from this point forward. It is time to move past baseless supposition. The vaccines are proven effective, beyond any reasonable doubt - study after rigorous study, Country after Country.
Thanks for the ping. Israel has had excellent results, the numbers are falling, the vaccine in their study has been shown to be preventive of disease and transmission. This is a great day. But there will be those here who pee on it. But we are winning, and the tide has changed thanks to PDJT.

The Pfizer vaccine they are using in Israel uses messenger RNA (which does not alter DNA). It instructs cells how to produce a characteristic piece (spike protein) of the COVID virus (not a functioning live virus) so the immune system learns to recognize that identifying feature of COVID. The mRNA itself does not replicate. It produces a bunch of spike proteins for a while, and eventually dies off and is cleared out.
The just approved third vaccine in the USA (Johnson & Johnson) uses a decades old traditional approach. They take a known harmless common virus (an adenovirus) and graft one of those COVID spike proteins onto it.

He still has not taken the vax you say that he supports so wholeheartedly. And neither have any of his family members. And I doubt they will. The other political leaders who have made a show of getting the injection publicly were virtue signalling; they know very well that a new and untested vaccine technology is highly risky without the 10 years of safety testing. Especially so for a coronavirus vaccine, which has never before been successfully developed. I’d be shocked if they go anything other than saline/placebo.

I'd say the guy is pretty well on board. You really have to be living in fantasy land to watch that video and think President Trump hasn't been 100% behind this effort.

No vaccines have the ability to alter DNA. None. They don't even have a transport mechanism into the nucleus of the cell, which is where DNA is.

No, neither Pfizer nor Moderna used fetal stem cells at any stage of their research, development, or testing in house. After doses were created and tested and packaged in freezers ready to ship, an independent third party did confirmatory testing using fetal stem cells. But blaming that on Pfizer or Moderna would be like blaming Johnson&Johnson if somebody bought some Tylenol at Walgreens and tested it on fetal stem cells. Does someone doing that taint all Tylenol? No. Claiming otherwise would be absurd.
Now the Johnson&Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, that one DID use fetal stem cells during R&D and testing. That company made the choice to do so.

3/ I HAVE WARNED YOU SINCE JANUARY THAT THE 95% CLINICAL TRIAL FIGURE CANNOT BE TRUSTED BECAUSE THE COMPANIES DID NOT ENROLL NEARLY ENOUGH PEOPLE AT HIGH RISK.
Now the Israelis are talking about going BACK into lockdown.
Cases are dropping as expected when the PCR tests were scaled back to fewer thresholds

Correlation is not causation.
It’s only an assumption that the drop in cases is due to the vaccines as opposed to people becoming immune through actual illness or the virus just burning itself out as viruses are wont to do.
