Former President Donald Trump delivered his first major speech after leaving office, charting a path forward for the Republican Party and conservatives but suggesting that he might run in 2024.
“I may even decide to beat them for the third time,” he said.
Trump said the conservative movement he created “is far from being over” but did not declare that he would try to run against for president in 2024. “There’s never been a journey more successful,” he remarked, adding that conservatives “will be victorious and stronger and greater than ever before.”
“The future of the Republican Party is as a party that defends the social, economic, and cultural interests and values of working American families—of every race, every color, and every creed. Republicans believe that the needs of everyday citizens must come first,” he said on Sunday at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Orlando, Florida.
Republicans over the next four years will be the bulwark against socialism, communism, and Biden administration policies.
“I’m going to continue to fight right by your side,” he said, adding that he won’t create a “brand new party,” adding: “I am not starting a new party.”
Trump has discussed privately running again for president in 2024, according to advisers. The former president has only delivered a few interviews to news outlets since he departed office in January.
“That’s going to be a decision he makes down the road,” Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel told CBS’s “Face the Nation.”
“I think without question” the Republican Party remains the Trump party, his son Donald Trump Jr., told Fox News on Saturday. “I think you hear it from the voices. I think you see it in the speeches of others that are in government.

You people who think the federal executive branch runs elections in the states are the reason we are in this mess. Its ignorance. What law gives the federal executive branch the authority to run elections in the states?
A messenger that does not provide sources for her claims. A messenger that skulks off when claims she make don’t come to fruition or events don’t happen on the date she says they will.
That’s not being a messenger. That’s being intellectually lazy and trolling.
Up to you if you keep ‘jackassin on threads.
She is endlessly amusing, that’s for sure.
Re: 179 - yes, pretty sad. Definitely a psychosis.
All we can do is to point out it’s fake news, and how utterly wrong the predictions and claims have been. A good diversion on boring days!
The constitution lays out rules(laws) for the states. If they are not followed then the violation becomes a federal matter to be dealt with. Why is that so hard to understand.
+1
I didn’t say that you did.
He had a persistent problem with being surrounded by very disloyal people. pretty obvious. Would love to know the true story someday.
not here looking for a bar room brawl just pointing out some weaknesses.
He was a great president and for me his best accomplishment was crashing the gates of PC.
Because of the swamp many of his fantastic achievements were washed away on Day 1 of Biden via executive orders
Please reference where either Trump or Kobach said that the investigations failed due to states refusing cooperation.
Here is Trump's list, starting at 1:14:05
Not a good idea to bite off more than we can chew.
He's not starting a new party.
Deal with it.

Apparently unlike you, Trump does not seem to hold minor grudges. Trumps list includes those who actively worked to impeach him, not some who said the wrong thing at some point.
Search engines are easy to use.
“Trump dissolves voter fraud commission after states balk at data requests
“President Trump announced late Wednesday that he had disbanded his controversial ‘election integrity’ commission and blamed a refusal by more than a dozen states to provide what he called ‘basic information.’
“’Rather than engage in endless legal battles at taxpayer expense, today President Donald J. Trump signed an executive order to dissolve the Commission, and he has asked the Department of Homeland Security to review its initial findings and determine next courses of action,’ White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement.
“The commission, led by Vice President Mike Pence and Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, had asked all 50 states and the District of Columbia to hand over reams of personal voter data, including voters’ names, voting histories and party affiliations.”
(Interesting that this is another important commission / task force led by Pence that harmed, rather than helped, PDJT. Just sayin’.)
“Trump does not seem to hold minor grudges.”
Maybe he should.
Listening to Trump explain it, he thought he had the election in the bag, with far more votes than he needed to win.
He did not expect the massive levels of cheating Democrats unloaded.
There's so much of this story we don't know -- i.e., how many stuffed ballots were there, how much was illegal laws and how much (if any) was hacked voting machines -- that we can only guess what "really happened" behind the scenes.
If the Biden administration sent a request to the states demanding personal voter information, saying it was to further an investigation into voter suppression, what do you think the state response should be? I would hope that it would be the same as 44 states and D.C. who all replied that the request was illegal and they wouldn't comply. But regardless of that, the commission was disbanded because it was not finding any evidence of the massive number of illegal immigrant votes that Trump claimed cost him the 2016 popular vote. It was, start to finish, a joke.
Instead of wasting time on crap like this, Trump should have told his Justice Department to put priority on investigating and charging people for vote fraud. He didn't.
Sorry, but you're delusional if you fantasize MAGA without Trump, or if you think Trump will lead any party other than Republicans.
The real issue is which Republican leaders are actively working against Trump, and he gave us his list.
Here is Trump's list, starting at 1:14:05 of his CPAC speech:
Trump claimed millions of illegals voted in 2016 and vote fraud in 2018. This shouldn't have caught him by surprise. If vote fraud existed on the massive scale that he insists then this wasn't the first time it would have happened. It would have occurred in earlier elections and had the Justice Department investigated it and prosecuted it then it could have been prevented, or at least greatly suppressed, in 2020. But he didn't and I really wonder why?
Trump's list includes those who actively worked to defeat him:
1.Senators Romney, Sasse, Burr, Cassidy, Collins, Murkowski & Toomey
2.House: Rice, Kinzinger, Newhouse, Gonzoles, Upton, Butler, Meier, Katko, Valero & Cheney
It's a great place to start.
Don't get distracted by minor disagreements.
Trump was ridden out of town on a rail by the GOP. Trump, for the most part, is currently held incommunicado. He is able to reach a few thousand RSBN viewers. When he was president he had zero influence within the GOP but now, from his great position of power, he’s going to slap the GOP into line. You Uniparty (R) stooges do provide comic relief.
