My brother works on a ferry boat as a navigator and first mate to the captain. if him or the captain ever had a navigation accident where the boat was damaged and passengers were put in danger both of them would never work again even if they were not found to be at fault.

Grew up there in a rural part in the 60’s and 70’s. It was nice then. Tons of woods and creeks to explore. Even shot on a rifle team in High School where the range was in the school.

The men in the farm community I grew up in (some sixty+ years back) would help someone like such decide to retire. Today. State wouldn’t need to be mailing out any retirement checks, neither. Those were men who put value on their children’s innocence and maidenly modesty.
